"I am so so pleased with the service from Boots all the way to ScreenCancer."

Ms G.
from Southport - April 2024

I had a mole on my arm which became itchy and had grown slightly, over about 4 weeks. The boarders looked slightly irregular. I decided to book in with Boots for a mole scanning. The very next day after my mole scanning, I received a phone call from ScreenCancer to tell me my report and what to do next. “I am so so pleased with the service from Boots all the way to ScreenCancer. I have told so many people about this service”. I can confirm that I had a Melanoma which was successfully removed, and it has not spread. “If this service was not available and I had not gone for my scanning, I don’t know what would have happened, thank you”.

"I was aware that it didn’t look normal."

A customer
from Manchester - April 2024

A new mark appeared at my shoulder; I was aware that it didn’t look normal to me. It wasn’t dark but quite subtle and was pink and white in colour. I had mentioned to my mother that it was concerning me. I had seen information about the Boots mole scanning service online several times and decided that as waiting times were so long to see a GP that I would use the Boots service. I didn't have to wait long for an appointment and the staff at Boots were helpful and kind. My scan was completed and two days later I heard from the ScreenCancer team who advised that I make an appointment to see a Dermatologist as I had a suspected skin cancer on my shoulder. I was able to have the area biopsied and a Melanoma stage 1 was diagnosed. I was surprised at the result as were the Doctors who were treating me. I have since had a wider excision and now I am receiving regular follow ups. I am relieved that it has now been completely removed, and I am being careful about checking my skin more often.

"Money well spent! I cannot fault it, amazing service. It did what it says on the tin."

Mr S.
from Lincoln - February 2024

I found out about this service online. I booked an appointment as my mole was originally round and became more elongated and the colour changed from a solid colour to a patchier appearance. 24 hours after my scan I received a call from ScreenCancer. They inform me of my results, what to do next and answered my questions. I was seen by the NHS Dermatology Department swiftly, and I had the mole removed. The histology report showed that it was a malignant melanoma, Stage 1A. I am happy to report I had a wider excision, and I am still under the team for my regular check-ups. If it had not been for this service, I may not have been this fortunate. Once again Thank You for your wonderful Service.

"I tell everyone I know to get their moles checked now."

A customer
from Dunfermline - February 2024

There was a mole on my arm that had been there for a while. While I was on holiday my husband and I both noticed that it was changing. When I got home from holiday, I googled mole screening services locally and found the ScreenCancer service. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the day after my scan I had a call from ScreenCancer. They explained the report and suggested I see my GP urgently to have a referral made to see a Dermatologist. The biopsy result showed that I had a Melanoma. I had a 2nd surgery and then more follow up surgery and will now have regular follow ups over the coming years. My other moles get checked each time I go.

"I would 100% use the service again."

Mr F.
from Glasgow - February 2024

I had a lesion on my chest that was changing in size. I looked into the ScreenCancer service online after someone had mentioned it to me, I wasn't aware that Boots offered the service, it was a great alternative and much more affordable than costly private clinics. It was very easy for me to book an appointment; I booked the appointment online and got confirmation straight away. It took minutes to book. I attended my appointment, and the pharmacy team were really good, they fully explained the process from the outset and what I should expect back from the ScreenCancer team. After my scan with the pharmacy I received a call from ScreenCancer the next day. They explained what the consultant had written on my report and what I needed to do next. I used the service for the lesion in 2022 and again in 2023, for comparison. After my 2nd time using the service, I was finally referred to Dermatology and after 5 months was seen. At Dermatology the lesion as removed and was confirmed as a Malignant Melanoma. Without the second report and the visible changes between the reports, I very much doubt the doctor would have referred me at that point in time. Comparing between the 2 reports helps me progress this undoubtedly. I would 100% use the service again. Since discovering I had 1B Melanoma, it's vitally important to track any changes with your body, and in this case any moles, catching suspicions early is key. I had a feeling something wasn’t right, and this service helped me prove these concerns from the doctor then latterly Dermatology.

"3 days after my scan at the pharmacy, I was called with my report."

Mrs D.
from Belfast - January 2024

I had a mole on my back that I knew I wanted to be checked by a professional. I googled mole scanning services and found the ScreenCancer service at my local pharmacy. I booked an appointment, which was very easy. The staff at the pharmacy were excellent, they were very reassuring. They explained the whole service and what to expect. 3 days after my scan at the pharmacy I was called by ScreenCancer to explain the report. I really appreciated the call to explain the results from the consultant because it helped me to understand. The staff at ScreenCancer were very professional and I really appreciated the call. After the call ScreenCancer sent through my report. I booked an appointment with my GP, I sent a copy of the report to the GP and was referred based off it. My GP was happy with the report and the service. I was then referred to Dermatology where the lesion was removed, and the histology was normal. The Dermatologist told me that the lesion did look a little odd and removed it same day. With the ScreenCancer Report I was able to get an appointment quicker and it put my mind at rest.

"The fact it was reasonably priced and convenient was important for me, as well as a great service."

Miss M.
from London - January 2024

I had a lesion on my right leg that I was concerned about, getting a scan appointment was proving tricky and expensive. I came across the service with Boots online, it was easy to access and convenient for me. I found there was lots of flexibility with date, times, and stores. I booked my appointment; I had my scan on the Friday and by the Monday ScreenCancer had called me with my report. My GP referred me to Dermatology, and they excised the lesion. They said it was a Dysplastic Nevus and was better off removed. I did not need any other treatment. I would recommend the service and would use it again in the future. The fact it was reasonably priced and convenient was important for me, as well as a great service.

"I am so grateful for the service; I think it was the push my GP needed to refer me."

Miss M
from Ireland - January 2024

I googled the service online and found my nearest Boots store offering the service. I had my scan and the very next day; I had a phone call from ScreenCancer explaining my results. It was quick and efficient. I took the report to the GP, and they said they would refer me to Dermatology, but they said they were not overly worried. The lesion was removed, and it came back as a stage 1 Malignant Melanoma. I had to go back for a wider excision, but it came back just showing scar tissue, which was reassuring for me. I have a follow up booked with Dermatology for a years’ time. I am so grateful for the service; I think it was the push my GP needed to refer me, and I will recommend the service.

"I was grateful of the service, and I would recommend and use again if needed."

Miss P.
from Bicester - January 2024

I had a lesion on my back for a while, but it was difficult to see. I was having a beauty treatment when the therapist told me about this service in boots. I booked my appointment to have it scanned. The lady in the Boots clinic was having a few technical issues but she seemed calm and very helpful. Within 24 hours of my scan, I had a call from ScreenCancer to discuss the report. Trying to get an appointment with my GP is impossible and the NHS is so stretched, I decided to go Privately. It was removed quickly, and histology came back as a BCC. I was grateful of the service, and I would recommend and use again if needed. I think that it’s amazing how that just by looking at my scan the Dermatologist was able to diagnose. I do think that people should not have to go privately to get the care they need for Skin Cancers.

"I feel that the reports have the clarity I needed to get the GP to refer me."

Mrs M.
from Belfast - December 2023

I had a lesion on my nose for approximately 2-3 years, last December it became more noticeable when I was applying my make up. I went to my GP who said it was nothing, but I have had previous BCC, so I was concerned, and I saw your service advertised. I went along to the clinic; they were very good and made me feel relaxed. The next day I had a call from the ScreenCancer team, the lady was very empathetic and kind when explaining the report to me. I took it to my GP and felt that helped me get a referral to Dermatology. I had the biopsy which confirmed BCC but unfortunately, I am on the waiting list for the Plastic Surgeons to remove it for me. Dermatology felt it was too much for them to do. I would and have recommended the service. I feel that the reports have the clarity I needed to get the GP to refer me. I think this service is amazing and it has since picked up another abnormal skin lesion on a friend that I referred to use this service.

"Doctors did say it was unusual and was mimicking a melanoma, the worst kind of skin cancer."

Mrs G.
from London - December 2023

I noticed a mole on my foot that looked like it was changing. It was darker in one area and an odd shape. I did see my GP, but I was dismissed. I searched Google and found that Boots were offering mole scanning. I booked an appointment for 7pm after I finished work. This was very convenient, and the staff were really kind, professional and took me seriously. It was very quick and easy. The next day I received a call from a very lovely person, she was very kind and professional, she explained everything to me in the letter which said I should get the mole looked at quickly. I went back to my GP and because of the letter, I was taken seriously and referred to hospital. The mole was removed, and it turned out to be nothing to worry about, but the doctors did say it was unusual and was mimicking a melanoma, the worst kind of skin cancer. Because of the service it meant that I was seen quickly and had all my worries taken away. It was well worth the money and really felt I was treated better. It saved me a lot of time. I understand that the NHS is very busy, it’s not their fault, but this service really helped me. I can’t thank you all enough.

"I am very grateful for this service and I would definitely recommend it."

Miss B.
from Dartford - December 2023

I had a lesion on my left shin for about 5 years, but I noticed around last August it started to change. My friend told me about this service and so I went along to have a scan. The Boots staff were very polite and friendly. I received my call from the ScreenCancer team, only 3 days after my scan. This was much quicker than I expected. They explained my report and were very kind with it. I could not get an appointment with my GP as there was none available anytime soon. I went private and had the lesion removed. The results came back as a Melanoma In situ and I had to have a wider excision. This came back clear, and no further treatment needed. I am very grateful for this service and I would definitely recommend it.

"I would 100% recommend the service and I was so pleased with how quickly it was dealt with."

Mrs T.
from Leighton Buzzard - November 2023

I had a lesion on my nose for around 6 months, it was non healing, and my mum came to use your service. Her result came back for Skin Cancer, and I felt my lesion looked the same. I attended the same store and had the lesion on my nose scanned. I received a call from ScreenCancer the next day. It was so quick I was amazed. My GP didn’t need to see me, they just asked that I emailed the report over. The report was in such good detail the GP just made a referral to Dermatology. I had Private medical insurance and I saw the Dermatologist privately. The lesion was removed and came back as a BCC. I would 100% recommend the service and I was so pleased with how quickly it was dealt with.

"I would and have recommended the service to my friends and family. It was quick and easy and gave me the push I needed to get the lesion removed."

Mr D.
from Dublin - November 2023

I noticed the lesion on my arm because I am very cautious of my skin. I knew something was not right because of the change in the colour, the lesion was very red. Unfortunately, this was during the pandemic, so I could not see my GP face to face. I sent my GP some pictures and showed them the lesion via video call. The GP said to them it looked fine, but because the lesion was on my arm, I saw it all the time. I knew there was an issue because it continued to change. This is when I thought about a second opinion. My partner found the ScreenCancer mole scanning service in a pharmacy near me, so I booked an appointment. The service was straight forward, and the technician was wonderful, they explained everything and was very supportive. I then received a call from ScreenCancer to explain the report from the Dermatology specialist. The report suggested I had a basal cell carcinoma on my arm, and I needed to get it removed. The report pushed me to go back to my GP because I had confirmation that this lesion was not “right”. With the help of the report, I was referred to Dermatology. The lesion was removed and was confirmed as a basal cell carcinoma. I would and have recommended the service to my friends and family. It was quick and easy and gave me the push I needed to get the lesion removed.

"I am so happy used the service, I think it is excellent and I have told everyone."

Miss J.
from Dublin - November 2023

The lesion was on my lower back, and it appeared really quickly, but it was hard to say because it was on my back out of view. It felt very crust and it looked red, so I wanted to get it checked. I can’t remember how I found out about the ScreenCancer mole scanning service, but I am happy I did. I booked an appointment online, which was very easy. The staff were excellent in store, they were very professional. Two days after my scan in store I received a call from ScreenCancer to explain the report from the Dermatology specialist. The report suggested the lesion was a basal cell carcinoma and that I needed to get it removed. I showed the GP my report and they referred me to dermatology. The lesion was removed and was confirmed as a basal cell carcinoma. I am so happy used the service, I think it is excellent and I have told everyone.

"The whole process was effortless and quick. I would urge anyone worried about their lesions to get them checked!"

Miss H.
from Navan - November 2023

I noticed a lesion on my cheek that was getting bigger/ fuller, and it was changing in colour. I found the ScreenCancer mole scanning service online. I booked an appointment the next day to get it imaged. The person scanning my lesion was kind and professional, they explained everything before starting the service. Two days after my scan I received a call from ScreenCancer to explain the report that the Dermatology specialist had written. The report suggested that I had a basal cell carcinoma on my cheek and that I needed to get the lesion removed. I went to my GP, I showed them my report and they had a look themselves and decided to refer me. I had my results back that it was indeed a basal cell carcinoma. The whole process was effortless and quick. I would urge anyone worried about their lesions to get them checked!

"I was so grateful for the service, and I would 100% recommend it to others."

Mr C.
from Ireland - November 2023

I had a lesion I noticed on my face for the last 4 year, but it had started changing. I saw the service advertised and had the scan done. Within, 2 days of the scan ScreenCancer called me and discussed the result. I followed the advice and had lesion removed. The service gave me the diagnosis as it was confirmed by histology. I was so grateful for the service, and I would 100% recommend it to others. It was not only a great service, but very quick getting the results out to you too.

"I was able to make an appointment quickly and easily."

A customer
from Sheffield - November 2023

Over the course of a busy 24-month period, I noticed a mole on my abdomen. It looked like it was getting darker. It didn’t look right to me, and I noticed that the edges looked uneven. When I developed itching around the mole, I decided to do something about it. At first, I felt that it wasn’t something I needed to bother the GP about, so I looked for other services local to me. I knew that Boots offered several services and was able to make an appointment quickly and easily. I had my scan and was contacted by ScreenCancer within a few days with the results advising that I seek a two week wait appointment with a Dermatologist as the mole looked suspicious of a Melanoma. My GP acted quickly, and I was seen quickly and had surgery to remove the mole that was confirmed as a Melanoma. I have had further follow up surgery and am now waiting for my latest results. Thank you ScreenCancer for your great service.

"Both the pharmacy and ScreenCancer were great throughout the whole process."

Mr G.
from Scotland - November 2023

I had a lesion on my upper back that I was concerned about, I managed to get a GP appointment and my GP looked at the lesion and did not think much of it at the time. I wasn’t happy and wanted a second opinion so my wife found out about the ScreenCancer mole scanning service. A pharmacy near me were offering the service, so I booked an appointment and went along. Both the pharmacy and ScreenCancer were great throughout the whole process. The day after my appointment I was called by ScreenCancer to explain the report that the Dermatology Specialist had wrote. The report suggested that I need to be referred to Dermatology for the lesions to be treated.I went back to my GP with the report and my GP referred me based on the information. The lesion was confirmed as a Basal Cell Carcinoma, and I was then prescribed a cream to clear the lesions called Efudix. The lesion has cleared now, and I am very happy that I used the ScreenCancer service.

"I still can’t believe that a little camera in Boots can do this."

Miss K
from Dublin - October 2023

I had noticed a lesion on my neck for a while but recently is had become sore, crusty and my perfume had begun to irritate it. I looked online and the ScreenCancer service at Boots came up. I booked my appointment and went for my scan. The next day I had a phone call from ScreenCancer, and they discussed my results. They straight away sent over my report and I contacted my GP. They were hesitant to refer me based on the service. Eventually after I insisted that I needed the referral, I managed to get one. I went to see a private Dermatologist and had a biopsy, which came back as a basal cell carcinoma, and I had it removed in the April. I feel in the grand scheme of things a small scar is nothing compared to what it could have been. I still can’t believe that a little camera in Boots can do this. It’s an unreal service and I would recommend it.

"I would absolutely recommend this service to anyone."

Mrs P
from Hemel Hempstead - October 2023

I had a lesion on my leg which had for a while, I couldn’t get an appointment with GP, and I Googled mole scanning services near me. I found a Boots store near me. I made an appointment and had a scan. The next day after my scan, ScreenCancer called me and discussed my report. They sent it to me, and I took it to GP. I feel that the report convinced him to refer me. Dermatology then looked at the lesion and reluctantly took a biopsy. The result came back BCC and I am so grateful. If it hadn’t been for this service, I would have not been referred by my GP and it could have been a lot worse. I would absolutely recommend this service to anyone. All involved were kind and quick to respond.

"I want everyone to know about this fantastic service."

Ms R
from London - September 2023

I had a mole on my Left Arm that was darker than the other moles on my body. I decided to get it scanned. I received a call from ScreenCancer to explain what the Dermatologist found and what to do next. This was helpful as I was able to ask questions that were answered. I got my mole removed in the NHS, and it was confirmed Melanoma. I received a follow-up call months later from ScreenCancer. I am so impressed with the service and support I received. I have told all my friends and family. I cannot tell enough people, “I want everyone to know about this fantastic service”.

"I would 100% recommend this amazing service to everyone and would use it again if I needed to."

Mrs F
from Exeter - September 2023

I had been concerned about the lesion on my face for a while and I googled scanning services online. The Boots mole scanning service came up and I booked an appointment. It was quick and not too expensive. I had an appointment within a week and within 4 days including, the weekend I had a call and was given my results. It was very quick and now I know the situation I can discuss treatment with my GP. I appreciate ScreenCancer calling me and speaking to me direct. I would 100% recommend this amazing service to everyone and would use it again if I needed to.

"I received my report in less than 24 hours!"

Mrs. R
from London - August 2023

My daughter was concerned about this patch of skin on my cheek, she was very worried so for her peace of mind I decided to visit my GP. My GP began a referral, but I was told that there is a huge backlog for skin cancer referrals and my wait time would be months. That’s when I came across the ScreenCancer mole scanning service. The service was so affordable, I thought I have nothing to lose. I booked an appointment at my nearest pharmacy and the pharmacy team were so welcoming. The lady who scanned me was friendly, informative, professional and absolutely wonderful. She explained the whole process to me and was very knowledgeable and reassuring. Less than 24 hours after I received a call from ScreenCancer to talk me through the report and my next steps. ScreenCancer we also very friendly. The report suggested that I have sun damage on my cheek which can be treated with a simple cream. I have already told so many people about the service and I would use it again if I had any further concerns.

"I have recommended the service to all my friends and family."

Mr M
from Newcastle - July 2023

I had quite a large lesion on my shoulder area I was worried about. I had, had the lesion for around a year. I found the ScreenCancer service in my local Boots and booked an appointment. The service in Boots was great, for the price, to get peace of mind. Less than a week later I had a call from ScreenCancer to explain the report and what the Dermatologist had recommended. It was suggested that I get a referral to Dermatology for the lesion to be removed as showed signs of skin cancer. I took my report to the GP, and it was suggested that I have some more photographs of the lesion sent to my local Dermatology department. From this point I was seen very quick through the hospital process. The lesion was removed, and it was confirmed as a stage 1 malignant melanoma. I had a second procedure to ensure the cancer had not spread and thankfully I was all clear. The melanoma was caught and treated very early. I sing Boots praises all the time and recommend the service to all my friends and family.

"The service is inexpensive, and I would use it again."

Ms. M
from London - July 2023

My sister pointed out the lesion on the end of my nose, she said that she had seen a lesion like mine before and that person had to have their whole nose reconstructed. With her advice I needed to go somewhere to have my lesion checked. I turned to my health insurance, and they told me that because I had no symptoms with my lesion, I could not get it checked. My husband found the ScreenCancer mole scanning service within a Boots store near us, so I booked the appointment and went ahead with it. The service was easy to use, inexpensive and I would use it again if I had another lesion. I received a call from a ScreenCancer HCA two days after my scan at Boots. The HCA explained everything that I needed to do. The report was the clincher in getting a referral to Dermatology. Once my GP saw the report I was referred. I have had the lesion removed and it was a confirmed basal cell carcinoma, just as my report suggested. I am now healing after the treatment, and I have a follow up with Dermatology at the end of the year.

"I will recommend the service to everyone."

Mr E
from Melton Mowbray - June 2023

I had a lesion that I was a little bit concerned about, I heard about the service as my partner is in the medical profession. The wait to see any GP is now ridiculous. I had my scan and only waited 24 hours for the result. The report was reviewed by a Dermatologist, and they suggested that I monitor lesion for any changes. ScreenCancer still phoned me to explain the result. Luckily for me, my partner can monitor but if that wasn’t the case the Dr still gave me an alternative suggestion. I feel that my mind was put at ease, and this is a superb service and I feel more people should hear about it. £35 is nothing for reassurance, guidance, and very quick results. I will recommend the service to everyone. Everyone I spoke to was helpful and friendly.

"It’s an amazing service and cheaper than a private consultation."

Mrs. D
from Sheffield - June 2023

I noticed an area on my face I was concerned about, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to get a GP appointment. I Googled mole scanning services and found the ScreenCancer service, so I booked an appointment. The staff were friendly, and the service was efficient from start to finish. I had a call back not even 24 hours after my scan, they told me it was sun damage and recommended I see my GP for a prescription. It was a brilliant service and cheaper than a private consultation. I would recommend it to all my friends. It was worth the money for the peace of mind.

"I have recommended the service to my family and friends."

Ms. J
from Fife - May 2023

I had a lesion on my arm that I was worried about. I needed to get it checked out. I Googled mole scanning services and found a few different practices running the ScreenCancer mole scanning service. The scan itself was really quick and easy. Shortly after I received a call from a ScreenCancer Healthcare Advisor to explain the Dermatology Specialists analysis. I was told that I need to see a Dermatologist to get the lesion removed. With the report my GP referred me to Dermatology. I was then told that they believe the lesion is nothing to be concerned about but will remove it anyway. The histology then came back as a melanoma in-situ. I was told to have another biopsy and the second one came back as no signs of cancer. I am so happy I used the service when I did, if I had waited any longer my story may have been different. I have recommended the service to my family and friends as well.

"I think this service is fantastic and so affordable."

Mrs. J
from Romford - May 2023

A had noticed a small lesion appear on my cheek which was close to my eye. I did see a Dermatologist who told me that it was nothing but that if it got bigger to go back to see them again. I remained concerned about the lesion and didn’t want to leave it, so I googled mole scanning services near me and the Boots service came up with the best reviews. I was able to make an appointment and have the scan quite quickly. The report was explained to me the very next day and I was able to see a private Dermatologist without too much of a wait. The lesion was removed, and the report showed it was a Basal Cell Carcinoma which is exactly what the mole scan report suggested it was. I think this service is fantastic and so affordable. I have recommended it to other people and wouldn’t hesitate to use it again if I was concerned about something.

"Please do share my story."

A customer
from Witham - April 2023

I had noticed a lesion on my forehead that I was not sure about. When I spoke to my beautician she agreed that it looked suspicious and was able to carry out a scan. The next day somebody from ScreenCancer called me letting me know that the lesion that I had scanned was suspicious for a basal cell carcinoma and that I should arrange to see a specialist. When I saw the Dermatologist he noticed that I also had two more. One was next to my eye and was quite large and troublesome. In fact I had though it was a wart and had been picking it! The Dermatologist removed the lesions and I am now healed up and the results of the surgery are really good. I am so pleased I used your service. Thank you. Please do share my story, it is only because I noticed the one on my forehead and did something about it that the others which were potentially worse were also found and treated as well.

"I only had to travel for about 20 minutes, so it was convenient for me. What a surprise to find that it was also affordable."

A Lady
from Leicester - March 2023

I had a mole on my back which I had wanted removed for ages. My Mum also wanted me to have something done as she felt worried about it too. I had seen a GP about the mole previously, but nothing was done but I felt that it had since started to change colour and looked more red than before. I googled mole scanning services in my area and came up with the Boots service. It was easy to access and make an appointment and I only had to travel for about 20 minutes, so it was convenient for me. What a surprise to find that it was also affordable. I knew that I would have a quick response rather than wait weeks for an appointment. The results came back to me the next day and it was suggested that I have the mole reviewed by a Dermatologist. My GP wanted to see me first but after a few weeks an appointment was made, and the mole was biopsied. The results confirmed that it was a Melanoma in Situ and I am currently waiting for a second surgery for a wider excision.

"Thank you for your service and prompt diagnosis."

A customer
from Milton Keynes - March 2023

I had noticed a mole on my arm which I felt unsure about. After checking out old photographs of myself, I could see that this mole had not always been there and knew that I needed to take steps to have it checked out. I Googled mole scanning services after first checking if there were any mole mapping services near me. I settled on the Boots service after reading all the positive reviews. It was easy to make an appointment which I did online. The day after my scan I received a call from ScreenCancer suggesting that I seek a referral to see a Dermatologist as the mole was suspicious for a Malignant Melanoma. Once I spoke with my GP the process was swift and I was seen within the week and another lesion on my abdomen was removed at the same time which was also suspicious looking. The surgery confirmed the diagnosis and I have since had further surgery. I will continue to have regular follow up appointments. I have recommended the service to several other people as I found it helpful and very positive. Thank you for your service and prompt diagnosis.

"This service is brilliant!"

Ms. J
from Tamworth - March 2023

I had a lesion on my face that I was worried about because it was an odd shape. I contacted my GP and at the time they weren’t seeing many people. So, I had to send off images of the lesion to them. I was told the images were not of good enough quality twice. So, I finally got an appointment. My GP told me that the lesion was not big enough for a referral and I knew in my gut I needed a second opinion. I found the ScreenCancer mole scanning service online at my local pharmacy. It was easy enough to book and the appointment was quick. The pharmacy told me that the results can take up to a week. Thankfully, I received a call from ScreenCancer the next day! The Healthcare advisor at ScreenCancer relayed what the Dermatology Specialist had written in my report. I was advised to seek a referral to Dermatology. I took the report back to my GP and with the advice written I was referred and seen within a week. I have had two surgeries on my face and the results were confirmed as a Melanoma. I can happily say I am all clear now and I am having regular check ups with Dermatology. I cannot thank ScreenCancer enough, the service is brilliant. Without it I am not sure where I would be!

"If I hadn’t used the service, I may have never known and still have the lesion now."

Mrs F
from Carlisle - March 2023

I had the lesion on my nose for about 10 years. It had been looked at a few times by a few GP’s, I was concerned, and they all assured me it wasn’t skin cancer. So, I enquired about laser and finally last year had it lasered. However, this still didn’t go away, and I was still self-conscious of it. I then saw advertised that Boots offered a service. I went for the scan. A member of the ScreenCancer called me and discussed report. I was referred by my GP to Dermatology and had biopsy. To my shock it came back as a BCC. I had been seen by a plastic surgeon and am waiting to have it completely removed. I am nervous as its on my nose, but ScreenCancer have talked to me about the procedure. I feel like they have given me more information in the short time I have been dealing with them, than I have through the whole time I have seen GP’s. I can't thank them enough. If I hadn’t used the service, I may have never known and still have the lesion now.

I came across the mole scanning service on the internet. I was delighted it was available in my local Boots store. I was concerned about a mole on my calf and didn't know if I should go further with it or not, your screening process started the ball rolling for me. The whole experience was so easy, when the results came back that it was something to be concerned about, I went straight to my G.P. He got me an urgent appointment at the hospital where it was confirmed I had Melanoma, I had it removed straight away and needed further surgery to go deeper but luckily, they got it all! I am so grateful to ScreenCancer because it is only for your service and what came back from the test. I would have waited longer, and I might have been looking at a different reality. I have told everyone I know about your service, how quick and affordable it is, if just for peace of mind. I'm all clear now and I am extra mindful of my skin care routine, I am in the system now so I may not need your service again, but I would have no hesitancy recommending you to others.

"I am so happy I found the ScreenCancer mole scanning service and I can’t recommend it enough."

I saw someone mention the mole scanning service on Twitter, explaining that they think the service is really helpful. I am covered in moles but I was particularly worried about a lesion on my thigh. I had wanted to get it checked for a while but didn’t feel it necessary to bother my GP with it. So I booked an appointment at my nearest pharmacy. The staff were friendly, and the process was quick. Within 2 days of the scan a lady from ScreenCancer called me with the results. She explained that the Dermatology Specialist has said the lesion is suspicious for melanoma and I need to go to the GP to get referred to Dermatology. I contacted my GP and during an e-consult I attached the report from the Dermatology Specialist including the images taken and the GP referred me to Dermatology. The Hospital agreed it looked suspicious so I had the lesion removed, the results showed that the lesion was a melanoma in-situ, this means the melanoma was caught really early. I am so happy I had the lesion checked now. Without this service I am not sure I would have seen the GP myself. From appointment to surgery, it took around 3 weeks. I will definitely recommend the service and use it again for any moles I am concerned about.

"Thank you for a really reliable, affordable, efficient and accessible service."

I found the Boots mole scanning service online. It was easy to make an appointment and the whole process was spot on. ScreenCancer contacted me the day after my scan and delivered my results, suggesting that I make an appointment to see a Dermatologist. I have had two surgeries since. The results showed that I had a Melanoma in situ. I tell people about this service all the time. Even the Doctors receptionists were unaware of it. In these days of the NHS being so overwhelmed this is a straightforward and easy alternative service. Thank you for a really reliable, affordable, efficient and accessible service.

I was unaware that I had a dark mole on the outer of my upper arm until both my mother and my daughter pointed it out. The mole didn’t bother me at all, there was no discomfort or itching. Once I knew it was there, I knew I had to make an appointment with the ScreenCancer mole scanning service. I use the Boots App all the time, so that’s how I was aware of it. It was easy to make the appointment. After the scan was finished, I only had to wait a day to hear back. The ScreenCancer team relayed the report written by the Dermatology Specialist. The report advised that I see my GP with a view to having a referral made to a Dermatologist. I was referred and the lesion was removed, the histology showed that it was in fact a Malignant Melanoma. The process was quick and easy, and I will definitely use it again. I tell other people about it too. I think it’s a great service and am grateful for it.

"This is a fantastic service, and I would highly recommend it."

I noticed a lesion on my right forearm about 2 years ago but recently started to change. I noticed white patches in it. I was recommended to use your service by friend. I made an appointment with Boots and had my scan. Within 2 days of the scan, I had my results. A lady from ScreenCancer called me and talked me through it. I was so happy with the service. I felt the personal touch of the staff at ScreenCancer talking to you and not just sending the report out. I contacted my GP and within a week a saw Dermatologist, then I had surgery 2 weeks later. The histology result confirmed a Malignant Melanoma. I had further surgery but luckily for me that is treatment complete. The speed of the scan result meant I only had 3 weeks from screening to surgery. This is a fantastic service, and I would highly recommend it.

"I think this is an absolutely incredible service."

A Customer
from Birmingham - February 2023

I had a large dark mole on my face that I felt concerned about. I had been trying to get an appointment with my GP without success and eventually Googled Mole Scanning Services online. The first one that came up was the Boots Mole Scanning Service and I was able to make an appointment. The report came back suggesting I be referred to see a Specialist and indicated that I might have an early Melanoma on my face. I have had two surgeries after the first one came back as positive for melanoma and now I have a scar about an inch and a half across. I have recently been given the all clear by the Hospital. I think this is an absolutely incredible service, and I tell everyone about it, and all for only £35 it’s amazing. More people need to know about this service.

"A really Good Service."

A Satisfied customer
from UK - February 2023

There was a large mole on my leg that I had not paid much attention to, I had just presumed it was an age mole and it was my partner who suggested that I should have the mole looked at. There is a previous history of skin cancer in my family and once I realized that there was reddening around the outer edge of the mole alarm bells started ringing and I made an appointment with Boots. I found the Boots Mole scanning service by searching online. It was quick and easy, and the results came back very quickly, suggesting that I see a Dermatologist for a biopsy within two weeks. The results from the biopsy showed that I had a Melanoma and my surgery was followed up by another and I am now clear and under regular follow up. I think the Boots service is a really good service.

"Thank Goodness for your service."

Mrs M.
from Belfast - January 2023

I have used the Mole Scanning Service before, so this was my second visit to Boots for a mole scan. It was easy to make an appointment. When my report came through it suggested that I see a Dermatologist because the lesion was suspicious of a Basal Cell Carcinoma which is a type of skin cancer. It was difficult to get through to my GP on the phone to make an appointment, so I took a copy of my report and dropped it at the surgery. The GP called me that evening and started the process of referring me. The Histology report came back confirming that the diagnosis was right. Thank goodness for your service. I think it’s a great service and I have made a point of recommending it to other people. It gave me peace of mind knowing that I could get a swift answer to my concerns and gave me a direction of where to go and what to do next.

"I appreciate that the service was available for me."

Mrs. H
from Nottingham - January 2023

I found the process with Boots easy and convenient. I am so glad that I used the service and appreciate that it was available for me. I had my scan in June last year and a few days after that ScreenCancer called me and explained that I needed to ask my GP to make a referral for me to see a Dermatologist. When I initially saw the Dermatologist, she didn’t think it was anything of concern but agreed to remove it to be safe. The results showed that I had a Melanoma. During July to November, I had three surgeries and I’m pleased to say that I didn’t need to have my lymph glands removed. I have a fairly large scar and am having regular follow ups for the foreseeable future. I am happy to share my story if it will help somebody else decide to have a mole or a lesion checked out. GP surgeries are so busy. You hear people say all the time “Oh I didn’t want to bother my GP with that” Leaving things for too long can be dangerous.

"I had noticed that a mole on my chest had changed shape."

A customer
from the Midlands - January 2023

We visit Spain regularly for holidays and have always used factor 50 sun screens. I had noticed that a mole on my chest had changed shape and after a bit of a delay I decided to go and get it checked out. I came across the Boots mole scanning service while searching online and was able to make an appointment easily and have my scan within the week. When the report came through it was suggested that I seek a Dermatology referral and have the mole biopsied. The results came back as a Malignant Melanoma, and I had to go to see a surgeon for a wider excision and the removal of my lymph glands which was done under general anesthetic. I am pleased to say that there was no spread. The wound has healed well despite it being a large scar. I think you should do more to promote your mole scanning service, maybe you should hand out leaflets at airports.

"I am very happy with the mole scanning service."

A Customer
from Durham - November 2022

I had been watching a mole that I had on the back of my leg for a while. I didn’t feel that it was significant, but I felt that to be on the safe side I should have it checked out. It’s been very difficult to see my GP and when I heard about the Boots mole scanning service it seemed like the obvious answer. I am really pleased I had the scan as the advice was to arrange a Biopsy to be on the safe side. I was able to do this, and the process was quite seamless once I had managed to see my GP. I was referred on the 2 week wait system and was seen at a ’see and treat’ clinic so had my Biopsy straightaway. When the results came back that I had a Melanoma in Situ it was arranged that I had follow up surgery to remove the remaining area. There has been no spread and as far as I am concerned it is done and dusted. I am very happy that I went to Boots and used the mole scanning service.

"Thankfully all is well."

A Customer
from Wexford - November 2022

There had been a lesion on my left temple for a while. It was large enough to be noticed by other people who offered advice about getting it checked out. Eventually I came across an advertisement for the Boots Mole Scanning Service and decided to make an appointment. The results of the scan suggested that I had a skin cancer called a Basal Cell Carcinoma. It took a while but I was able to see a Dermatologist who removed it and confirmed the diagnosis. It’s all done now. Thankfully all is well.

"A friend of mine recommended the Boots Mole Scanning service."

Mr. L
from Rathcoole - November 2022

There was a lesion on my abdomen that had been there for a while, and it was my Girlfriend who suggested that I have it checked out. It felt itchy and I thought it was a strange colour and I noticed that it had grown in size. A friend of mine recommended the Boots mole scanning service. It was easy to make an appointment and I only had to wait for a couple of days to receive my results. The results suggested that I had a skin cancer called a Basal Cell Carcinoma and suggested I see a Dermatologist in order to have it removed. The Dermatologist confirmed the diagnosis after my surgery. It was just superficial, but I was surprised as I thought I had always been quite careful in the sun. I will be taking extra care in the future.

"Such a great and efficient service."

A Customer

I had been concerned about a mole on my arm, so I googled Mole Scanning services in my area and found the Boots service. The service was quick, I only had to wait two days for my report, and I was able to get to see a Dermatologist very quickly once I had my report. The Doctor at the Hospital was amazing and removed my mole for me on the same day. I was diagnosed with a Malignant Melanoma and I am being followed up regularly now. Such a great and efficient service.

"I would definitely use the service again and have recommended it to friends."

A customer
from Dundalk - November 2022

I had noticed a mole on my back, it was a bit sore, so my attention had been drawn to it. The GP had not been concerned and I felt it had settled down a bit. But I went on holiday and when I came back, I took another look at it and it had grown significantly and was very dark in colour. My instinct told me I should have the mole checked out. I found the Boots Mole scanning service online and was easily able to make an appointment. The lady who did the scan put me at ease and was really kind and helpful. I felt by doing things this way, I was in control and knew I would have some kind of answer quickly. I only had to wait for two days before somebody at ScreenCancer contacted me and suggested I needed to see a Dermatologist urgently. I was lucky because after that because things moved quite quickly, I did not have to wait very long for my surgery. A malignant Melanoma was confirmed, and I am under regular review and follow up. I would definitely use this service again and have recommended it to friends.

"I’m really happy with the service, I find it so reassuring."

A customer
from Carlisle - October 2022

I have used this service several times. It is still not very easy to see my GP. My first mole scan was back in 2017. I had a fall whilst on holiday, my face was grazed and over time I felt that my skin around that area was quite thin and never completely how it was before my fall. Sometime later a bump appeared in that area. I decided to visit the Boots Mole Scanning service again for some reassurance as I was concerned and felt that something was wrong. I had my scan and a few days later I had a call from the ScreenCancer team who advised I may have a Basal Cell Carcinoma and that I should arrange with my GP to see a Dermatologist for a biopsy. After a bit of a journey a Basal Cell Carcinoma was confirmed. I have recently had some more surgery and am currently waiting to hear if it has been completely removed. I’m really happy with the service, I find it so reassuring as I know that I will have a fast response.

"So glad I did it."

A customer
from Milton Keynes - September 2022

I had noticed that a mole on my arm had increased in size and changed shape. I knew it should be checked out and came across leaflets and a poster in Boots about the Mole scanning service. Booking online was easy and quick. I was able to have my scan and heard back from ScreenCancer about my results just 2 days later. The recommendation was that I made an appointment with my GP with a view to having the lesion checked by a Dermatologist. The mole was removed and analyzed as a Melanoma in Situ. I am so glad I did it. The surgery is complete, and I am healing well. It has made me more aware and careful about checking my skin.

"A Really efficient and friendly service."

A customer

I had noticed that a lesion on my back had changed. I was aware of the importance of keeping an eye on your moles and checking for changes. I came across the Boots Mole Scanning Service online and was easily able to make an appointment. The Boots staff were friendly and helpful and after a couple of days I received a call from an advisor at the ScreenCancer office who explained my report to me and suggested I see a Dermatologist for further investigation. My lesion was removed and analyzed as a type of skin cancer called a Squamous Cell Carcinoma. The whole process was quite quick. I have healed well from the surgery and am happy to share my story, if it will help someone else make the decision to use this really efficient and friendly service.

"Such a great service."

Mrs L
from Scotland - September 2022

I had noticed a lesion that would occasionally crust on my chest. Although it didn’t look particularly worrying, but I couldn’t quite forget about it and my instinct told me I should have it checked out. After my scan with ScreenCancer at Boots, I was informed that the lesion could be a Basal Cell Carcinoma. It was quite a process to go through to see somebody, but eventually I saw a Dermatologist who removed the lesion and confirmed that it was a BCC. I am so glad I came across the Boots Mole Scanning. It’s such a great service. It’s life saving! Thank you so much.

"I really appreciate the excellent service I received from you."

A customer
from Kent - August 2022

I am very grateful for the scan and the report back on the diagnosis through ScreenCancer. It was a very quick and easy process. Eventually I got to see a Dermatologist who agreed with the report which suggested that this was an area of Bowens disease. After some discussion I was able to have some surgery at East Grinstead earlier this year. They removed the area, and I had stitches which have healed well. I am currently waiting for the results. I am happy to share my feedback on your website and just want to say I really appreciate the excellent service I received from you.

"I had noticed changes to my mole that worried me."

A Customer
from Woking - August 2022

I had a mole for around 5 years which was very dark. I noticed slight changes along with a bit of itching and felt like I should have the mole checked as it was beginning to worry me. I found the Boots Mole Scanning service online and was able to book an appointment easily. The scan went well and in just a few days the people from ScreenCancer contacted me to advise I have the mole checked by a Dermatologist for a biopsy. My GP sent a referral straight away and I had my surgery which confirmed I had a Melanoma in situ. That surgery was followed by another, a wider excision and I am waiting for the results of that surgery at an appointment with my Dermatologist very soon.

"I was one of those people who thought it would never happen to me."

Miss K
from Australia - August 2022

I travel between the UK and Australia and noticed a mole on my lower leg that I felt I wanted to have checked out. I came across the Boots Mole Scanning Service when I was searching google for mole screening services. I was able to get an appointment within a few days and the day after I had the appointment, I had a call from ScreenCancer suggesting I see my GP for a referral to see a Dermatologist. I was able to be seen within two weeks for the initial consultation and a biopsy was taken there and then with a follow up surgery several weeks later. The mole was confirmed as a Melanoma, and I have a follow up plan in place. People tend to put things off when it’s for themselves and I was one of those people who thought it would never happen to me. It can happen to anyone and if you are concerned about something please take steps to have it checked out.

"I will definitely be using this service again in the future."

Mrs E
from Norwich - August 2022

I had noticed a lesion on my neck that would just not go away. I did approach my GP but was told there was a 34 week wait for an appointment. I didn’t feel happy to wait that long and came across the mole scanning service on the Boots App. I was able to make an appointment easily and the day after I had the scan, I received a call from ScreenCancer telling me what the result was. I was able to go back to my GP with the report and was seen a few weeks later for my surgery. The results of that came back as a Basal Cell Carcinoma. A type of low-grade skin cancer. I am now more aware than ever about protecting my skin in the sun. I will definitely be using this service again in the future.

"The process was straight forward and very quick and I received my results two days later."

A Customer
from Purley - August 2022

During lock down I was unable despite repeated attempts to see my GP. My son felt that it was so important to get the mole on my leg checked out that he made an appointment for me with the Boots mole scanning service. The process was straight forward and very quick and I received my results two days later. The report suggested that the mole on my leg was a melanoma and that I should see my GP urgently to have a referral made to see a Dermatologist. Because of the report I was able to have the referral sent off and I had my first surgery within two weeks. The results came back and confirmed that it was a Melanoma and after that I was sent for a second surgery. If my son had not made the appointment, I wonder if I would still be waiting. I am happy to share my story to encourage anyone who is worried about a mole to take the steps they need to get it checked out.

"You have potentially saved my life."

A Customer
from Glasgow - July 2022

I had a mole on my arm that had been there for years and years. To me late last year I felt that the mole had changed. It was subtle but I felt there was a difference. I had asked my GP but was told the mole was ok. My instinct told me that despite the reassurance I wanted to have it checked out. I came across the mole scanning service through a colleague whose son had used it. I didn’t have to wait too long for an appointment although I did have to travel to Edinburgh. The day after I had the scan at Boots, I received a call from the ScreenCancer office advising me to see a Dermatologist for a Biopsy. I have only recently had the biopsy and in fact the results came back yesterday explaining that this was a Melanoma in situ. I want to say thank you. You have potentially saved my life. A Grand Job.

"I can’t thank you enough."

A customer

I had noticed a lesion on my nose which had been there for around 6 months. There is a clinic in Elgin who I go to and when I asked their advice it was suggested that I have a mole scan to check it out. I was able to have the scan and the next day I received a call from the ScreenCancer team advising me to seek a Dermatology appointment through me GP. When I saw the Dermatologist, I was advised that they thought the lesion was nothing of concern but to be sure they would take a biopsy. I am so glad they did because the report came back showing that this was a Basal Cell Carcinoma. The Hospital have sent me another appointment and I am currently waiting to have the remaining area removed. I am really grateful for this service and am happy to share my story to help make other people aware of it. If my story can help other people than that’s a great thing.

Mrs L.

I had noticed an area on my skin where the pigment looked unusual, and I was concerned about it. I had been worried about this over a period of around 2 years and had tried to approach my GP, but things were really difficult, and I was not able to get to see anybody. A friend of mine pointed me in the direction of the Boots service. I was able to make an appointment easily and didn’t have to wait very long for the appointment. The Boots staff put me at ease and just two days later I received a call from the ScreenCancer office who advised me that I should see a specialist. Thank you very much for helping me. I am fair skinned and have lots of moles and freckles. The Specialist removed an area of skin which was analysed as a Malignant Melanoma in situ. It has taken quite a few months and I am about to have a second surgery/wide excision within a few days. I am very grateful to you. I only wish I had come to see you earlier.

"I will always recommend such a great service."

Mr P
from Bedford - May 2022

I booked an appointment with Boots to have a lesion on the left side of my face looked at. I knew it had changed and a scab had formed. Trying to get a GP appointment is nearly impossible. I heard back from one of the ScreenCancer team and was advised to be referred to Dermatology. When I saw the Dermatologist with my report, they were very pleased, felt most of the leg work had been done for them with your help and input. They removed the lesion and it came back as Sun damage which was treated. I am very happy with the kind, professional care I received. I didn’t wait long from having the scan to being contacted. I feel the whole experience was positive and I will always recommend such a great service.

"Had I not used the service it could have been a different story for me."

Mrs E
from Warrington - May 2022

I saw your service advertised on Google as I had tried on a few occasions previously to get a GP appointment. I noticed a lesion on my left arm but unfortunately, I could not get past the receptionist and their advice. The Boots in my local town offered the service and “I knew the mole didn’t look right”. I booked the appointment and the Boots staff were very friendly and brilliant. The very next day one of the ScreenCancer team called me with the result and explained what I should do next. They were so kind and helpful. I contacted my GP and got a referral but was told it could be up to 2 weeks. Having lost my dad previously to MM I was anxious so I didn't want to wait any longer. I contacted a private Dermatologist and had it excised. It showed an early MM stage 1. They transferred me to NHS and I had further surgery. I am so grateful for the service, not only is it speedy, it's very efficient and gave me peace of mind. If I had not used it could have been a very different story for me.

"Absolutely Delighted."

A lady

I noticed a lesion just below my eye right at the beginning of lock down but had awful trouble trying to see my GP. I tried several times without success. A while later a relative of mine who lives in Republic of Ireland mentioned to me about the Boots Mole Scanning Service which I knew nothing about. I was able to make an appointment on a Friday Evening and amazingly I heard on the Monday morning about my result. The Gp surgery acted, and I was sent to see a Dermatologist who agreed that this was a BCC and arranged to remove it. I was told it would be in the new year, but I managed to have my surgery in December. The Surgeon was great at put me at ease and I have been left with hardly any visible scar. I am absolutely delighted with the care that I have received from all concerned throughout my journey. I can’t believe the peace of mind it gave me to use this service and all for only £35. Thank you.

"The service was so quick and I am very grateful."

A customer
from Milton Keynes - April 2022

After an unsuccessful attempt to see my GP regarding a lesion on my nose, I saw an advert on TV which mentioned the Boots Mole Screening Service. The next day I was able to contact the store and arrange an appointment. The Gentleman who did the scan was so lovely and put me at ease. I had a call from ScreenCancer the very next day explaining the report to me which suggested the lesion could be a Basal Cell Carcinoma and asking me to see my GP with a view to receiving a referral to see a Dermatologist. With the report in my hand, I was able to get a referral to see a Dermatologist. A long story but eventually I was sent to Guys to see a Specialist who performed Moh’s surgery. The surgery has been a great success with hardly any mark left at all. I have had a brilliant experience and am so grateful to all the professionals involved in my journey. I shared my story on Facebook where two people reached out to me and I was able to point them in the direction of the Boots service and they have also had successful experiences.

"Why would you wait and see your GP, when you can use this amazing service!"

Mrs M
from Belfast - April 2022

I noticed an area on my left temple that was not normal. While I was in Boots waiting for my vaccination, I noticed a poster advertising this service and I managed to book an appointment online. I was seen by a pharmacist who was very helpful and lovely. I spoke the ScreenCancer team who explained the report and advised me with next step. It was easy to access and my GP easily read the report off of my phone. The GP referred me to my local Dermatologist and I had the lesion removed. They also noticed another lesion and removed that too. Both came back as BCC. Had I not have seen the service I would have left the lesions. Why would you wait to see your GP when you can use this amazing service. I would have probably only just seen my GP as I would have had to wait, but I have already had two biopsies and both completely removed within a short amount of time. I would and have already recommended this amazing service!

I had noticed a strange looking mole on my forearm which I wasn’t completely happy with and decided to get it checked out. I came across the Boots Mole Scanning service and was able to book in easily and arrange to have the mole analyzed. The Boots staff were great and the next day I was called from somebody at ScreenCancer who suggested I see my GP with a view to being sent off to see a Dermatologist. My Gp was happy to make the referral based on what the report contained. My mole was removed and reported as a Melanoma. A second surgery was performed which was clear. I’m very glad I used my instinct and got the mole checked out. I won’t hesitate to use the service again in the future if I am concerned about anything.

"I have recommended the service to everyone I know."

Miss M

I noticed the lesion on my head was becoming itchy and bigger, I knew I needed to get it checked out. I decided to look online for Mole Scanning services and that’s when I came across ScreenCancer’s service. I booked online and got an appointment within 2 days. The staff in Boots were so kind and spoke to me about the whole process. I got a call from the ScreenCancer staff 2 days later explaining what the report from the consultant dermatologist suggested. They told me I needed to see my GP as they believed it was a Basal Cell Carcinoma. I took my report to the GP and told them I wish to be referred and they referred me. I was seen by the Dermatologist who took a biopsy of the lesion and told me it was in fact a Basal Cell Carcinoma. Which is what the report suggested! I am so happy with the service, I think its brilliant and I would use it again in a heartbeat. I have recommended it to everyone I know.

"I would use the service again if I was worried about anything."

A customer

There was a mole on my leg that had started changing about a year previously. I thought there were changes but didn’t feel it was worth bothering the GP about until my daughter also mentioned it. That’s what made me think I should take it seriously and have it checked out. With my daughters help we found out about the Boots Mole Scanning service online and I was able to book in at a Store that was local to me at a time and date of my choosing which I found very convenient. The Boots staff were great when I had the scan and the next day, I had a call from the ScreenCancer team who advised I should book in to see my GP urgently with a view to being referred to see a Dermatologist. I had my surgery which confirmed that the mole was as suggested in my report a Melanoma. A second surgery followed along with removal of the lymph glands. It’s been a journey but it’s better than having cancer. I would use the service again if I was worried about anything.

Mrs. W

I had noticed a mole appearing a few months before and very suddenly over a period of a few weeks I noticed that it was rapidly changing. It enlarged, darkened, and changed shape. I knew that these were not good signs and friends advised me to have it looked at. When I showed it to my daughter, she mentioned the Boots Mole Scanning Service. The Boots staff were very good when I went for the scan, and I received my report quickly which suggested that it could be a Melanoma. I was able to be seen and treated very quickly after that. The biopsy results came back confirming the diagnosis. I had a second surgery and am now having four monthly follow ups and the scar has healed well. I can’t thank you enough. I feel very lucky that things were acted upon so quickly.

"Thank you for your care."

A grateful customer

I had a mole on my shoulder which I had noticed during lockdown, which was growing quite rapidly. I came across the Boots mole scanning service and the process was smooth from start to finish. After I received my results from ScreenCancer my GP referred me to see a Dermatologist and the lesion was removed straight away. The results came back that it was a Malignant Melanoma graded at 1A. I am an ex-nurse and was suspicious of the mole but was surprised at what the Histology report showed. I needed to have a second surgery a few weeks later. The service I have received throughout the whole process has been 2nd to none. Thankfully I listened to my instinct in getting the mole checked. Thank you for your care. I now recommend the service now to friends and even to a Radiologist at the local Hospital.

I was worried about a lesion that I had on the bottom of my neck near my back and I saw this service advertised on the Boots website. I booked an appointment for the scan. The staff at Boots were very helpful and it was quick, easy process. Within 3 days of the scan, I spoke to one of your team and I took the report to my GP. They said they weren’t overly concerned. But I was originally from South Africa and was worried about my sun exposure. He referred me to Dermatology and was seen the same week. They immediately said it had to be urgently removed. I was sent to a Plastic Surgeon and it was removed. They said it was a Malignant Melanoma. I then had to have a Wider excision and Lymph node biopsy which thankfully came back clear. I feel it is a brilliant and helpful service. It was a simple process and was easy, to use. I feel that is has probably saved my life and I am so grateful.

"If I can help trigger other people into getting their moles checked out, I don’t miss an opportunity."

I had a mole at the back of my ankle which I kept noticing. I even took pictures of it to check that it wasn’t changing. I am fair skinned, and this mole wasn’t particularly dark but was darker than my others. I eventually decided to get the mole checked out and googled mole scanning services where I found the Boots service. The Boots store was local to me. I didn’t have to wait long for an appointment and the staff were very professional and kind. I decided to have two moles checked and sat back to await my results. Two days later I heard back from ScreenCancer who told me that it was reasonable to suggest a biopsy, but in the very least I should monitor the mole over a few weeks and if I felt that it was changing, I should seek a Dermatology referral. When I did see a Dermatologist, I was asked what made me think that the mole was suspicious. The only response I had was that it was darker than my other moles and that my gut instinct told me that there was something suspicious about it. I had my surgery with the Plastic Surgeons because of the area where the mole was. It was followed by a 2nd surgery and a skin graft, and the results came back that this mole was an aggressive melanoma. I am so thankful that I used the mole scanning service it was the best £50 I ever spent! Since this happened to me, I have been recommending the mole scanning service to my friends. If I can help trigger other people into getting their moles checked out, I don’t miss an opportunity. Thank you ScreenCancer.

I was concerned about the lesion I had on my knee, but during the lockdown I didn’t want to bother my GP. I was doing some research online and found out that my local Boots offered the mole scanning service. It was easy to get an appointment so I booked one and went along. The staff in Boots were really helpful and the service itself was really quick and easy. I think it was a day or so after the ScreenCancer staff gave me a call and explained what the consultant Dermatologist had said. It was suggested that I book an appointment with my GP with the view of getting the lesion removed. My GP referred me to Dermatology and I had the lesion removed and it was a malignant melanoma. It was very thin and small so I was really happy I went to get it checked out. If I didn’t go to Boots, I feel I wouldn’t have gone to the GP until things had settled with the pandemic, but the report gave me the push I needed. I am so grateful to ScreenCancer for offering the service and would urge anyone to get your moles checked out as soon as possible!

"I noticed that the lesion was changing colour."

Mr H
from Durham - February 2022

I had been looking at photographs that had been taken at Christmas, when I noticed that there was a lesion on my cheek that was new. I didn’t think too much about it, but within a few weeks I noticed that the lesion was changing colour. I didn’t know much about how to access private services for moles and lesions, but checked online and came across the Boots service. It was easy and convenient for me. I didn’t have to wait very long for an appointment and the day after my scan, I had a call from a Health care Advisor from ScreenCancer, explaining what my report suggested and advising me to see a Dermatologist to have the lesion biopsied. I was able to see a specialist quite quickly who removed the lesion and confirmed it was as suspected a Basal Cell Carcinoma. There is a small scar on my cheek which is barely visible now. I was very pleased with the service and wouldn’t hesitate to use it again if I was concerned about anything else.

"I am so glad I insisted on having the mole removed and have recommended the service to another family member."

Customer
from Crewe - January 2022

I have a significant amount of moles and came across the Mole scanning service while checking services out online. There was a Boots store that was offering the service locally to me, so I made an appointment and was able to go along quickly and have the scan. This was over the new year period, but nonetheless ScreenCancer got back to me within a few days to discuss my report. It was reported that there was a possibility that the mole could be an early Melanoma and that I should make an appointment urgently with my GP to be referred to a Dermatology specialist. After a little bit of discussion with the Dermatologist, who gave me the option to have it removed or to just watch it. I decided that I wanted the mole removed for my own peace of mind. The results came back that it was an early Melanoma as had been suggested by the scanning service. My surgery was followed by a second surgery, and I am presently having regular follow ups with the consultant. I call this follow up Mole Patrol! I am so glad I insisted on having the mole removed and have recommended the service to another family member.

"I had noticed a mole on my back that was unusual, it had been growing and changing colour."

Customer
from Sheffield - December 2021

I had noticed a mole on my back that was unusual, it had been growing and changing colour. I was watching Gogglebox on TV which was highlighting the ‘stand up to cancer’ campaign. It gave me the encouragement I needed to make enquiries about getting the mole checked out. I was able to find the Boots service easily and made an appointment the next day. The Boots staff were great. The next day I had a call from ScreenCancer explaining the results of my mole screening and advising me to see a Dermatologist as I needed a biopsy urgently. I appreciated the honesty of the process and the people that I spoke to. I had surgery to remove the mole which was analyzed as a Melanoma followed by further surgery and am now having regular checkups.

"It is easy to think that it won’t happen to you, but it can!"

Mrs. M
from Kent - December 2021

I was familiar with the mole scanning service at Boots as I had visited several years ago to make an enquiry. I had a longstanding lesion which I had ignored for 4/5 years but eventually went to have a mole scan. The results came back very quickly suggesting that I have the lesion checked out by a specialist which I did. An excision was carried out and the results came back that the lesion was a stage 1 melanoma. There was a suggestion made that I should have a second surgery which at first, I was reluctant to do. Another specialist made a strong suggestion that I should have the surgery as advised. The whole process was quick, and I am really impressed. I am having follow up appointments locally. I feel that I am very lucky. It is easy to think that it won’t happen to you, but it can!

"I had expected it to come back as nothing."

Mrs. S
from Wigan - November 2021

I had a long-standing freckle on my arm. It didn’t alarm me despite me noticing that it had gradually changed and got bigger over the space of about 18 months. I just thought it was ugly. I mentioned it the next time I attended the skin clinic and was advised by the clinician to have a Mole scan just to have it checked out to be on the safe side. I am so glad I took the advice I was given. A few days later I was contacted by the ScreenCancer team who told me that the lesion was suspicious and that I should seek an appointment with my GP urgently to start the process of referral to a Dermatologist. I was seen within 2 weeks and a day later I went in to have the lesion removed. The results came back to show that this was a stage 1 Melanoma. I was really shocked. I had expected it to come back as nothing. I had to have a second surgery and am being monitored for the next year every three months. I am so glad that I took the advice given to me. Without this service my skin cancer would not have been found. I think it’s a really good service and would recommend to others who might be wondering about booking an appointment.

"It started as a tiny dot but gradually got bigger."

Mrs. O
from Newport - November 2021

I had noticed a lesion below my eye had been there for about a year. It started as a tiny dot but gradually got bigger. I googled services for mole scanning and found the Boots service. I was able to make an appointment easily and had the scan which was a simple and comfortable experience. Just a day later I had a call from ScreenCancer explaining the results to me and suggesting I needed to see a Dermatologist. I was able to go to my GP and show them my report and three weeks later I had an appointment. It was decided that I needed to have surgery. The surgery went well and although at first it didn’t look nice now it is healed, I have a smooth scar line that is hardly noticeable. The results came back and confirmed that it was a Basal Cell Carcinoma. I have joined skin cancer support groups and have often recommended your fantastic service to others. The whole process was swift and efficient. I act as an advocate and prompt others to take more care in the sun.

"I think the Mole Scanning service is fantastic, because it gives people like me another option if they are concerned and are not able to see their GP."

Mr. S
from Derby - November 2021

I had noticed a lesion on my forearm, I knew that it had changed. It was darker and had become irregular it had all the signs that I knew I should look out for. I tried to see my doctor, but lockdown had just started, and the surgery advised me not to visit. I did try more than once eventually getting a telephone appointment with the GP after sending through a photograph, but I was told the lesion was nothing to worry about. I asked to be sent to see a Dermatologist, but was told it wasn’t necessary. My wife found out about the mole scanning service online and I was able to make an appointment. This was right at the beginning of the Pandemic and as we were driving to the appointment, I received a voicemail telling me not to come because they were cancelling all their appointments. As I was nearly there I turned up anyway. I was worried about the lesion and was able to show it to the lady in the Pharmacy and she did the mole scan straight away. I am very grateful to her. Two days later I spoke to somebody from ScreenCancer who told me that I should see a Dermatologist. With my report I was able to go back to my GP and say I need to see a specialist. This time they referred me on. After that the process moved quite swiftly. I had my surgery which showed the lesion was a Melanoma and then returned for further surgery and I am being monitored regularly now. I think the Mole Scanning service is fantastic, because it gives people like me another option if they are concerned and are not able to see their GP.

"I tell people all the time now “just go and get it checked out”."

Mrs D
from Lincolnshire - November 2021

My daughter noticed a lesion on my back when she was visiting me during the summer. It was in a place where I would never have noticed it myself. My son also visited a short while later and told me that I needed to get the lesion looked at. He made an appointment for me there and then at Boots for a Mole scan. I saw a lovely lady in Boots who photographed the lesion for me and a day later I had a call from ScreenCancer relaying my results and advising me to see a Dermatologist. Within 10 days I had seen a Specialist and the lesion had been removed. The report came back and revealed that it was a Squamous Cell cancer. I tell people all the time now “just go and get it checked out”. I think the service is amazing.

"My surgeon said to me I was lucky to have spotted the lesion within the time frame I did and it essentially saved my life."

Miss F
from Norfolk - November 2021

My son noticed the lesion on my back and said I need to get it checked out immediately. My son googled Mole Scanning services and the first one he found was at Boots and was reasonably priced too. I booked an appointment at my local Boots store and went along. The service itself was really quick and the staff in store were so helpful. All my information was securely sent to a Dermatologist to review. A couple of days after my scan ScreenCancer called me up and explained everything I needed to do on the phone. My lesion had come back as highly suspicious for Melanoma. I contacted my GP and was referred to a Dermatologist. The lesion was then cut out and it was a confirmed Malignant Melanoma. I then went back for a further excision which showed they had got all of it. My surgeon said to me I was lucky to have spotted the lesion within the time frame I did and it essentially saved my life. I have been back for checks since and luckily everything is healthy. I would most definitely use the service again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get a mole checked.

"I keep recommending the service to other people I meet !"

Mr D
from Manchester - July 2021

I was concerned about a lesion on my temple that I didn’t like the look of and so my wife suggested that I use the Boots service and have it scanned. My wife attended the screening with me and while we were there, she mentioned that there was a dark mole on the inside of my arm. I hadn’t really taken much notice of it although I knew it was there and when I showed the Pharmacist, she said she thought it was a good idea to have it scanned as well. The results came back from ScreenCancer very promptly and it was explained to me that I needed to see a Dermatologist regarding the mole on my arm and have the lesion investigated further. I was seen at the local Hospital where the mole was removed. The results came back that it was a Pre-Cancerous lesion. I was so relieved that had gone for the scan. The service I have had from Boots from Screen Cancer and from the Specialist Medical team has been phenomenal from start to finish. I keep recommending the service to other people I meet.

"There is a family history of malignant melanoma, so I looked around for somewhere to have the lesion looked at privately."

Miss K
from London - July 2021

I had noticed a mole on my thigh. I wasn’t sure if it was a new mole or if I already had it and it had changed as I have quite a few moles. But I think it was around six months before I had the scan that I had first noticed it. There is a family history of malignant melanoma, so I looked around for somewhere to have the lesion looked at privately. I came across the Boots service and found them to be very helpful and the most affordable. The Pharmacist explained the process really well and carried out the scan for me. A couple of days later I had a call from a Health Care Advisor at ScreenCancer who explained the results of my scan and suggested that I make an urgent appointment to see my GP with a view to having a Dermatology review. I was able to see my GP and the process of referral was very quick. I saw a Dermatologist who decided to remove the whole mole and once the results had come back and confirmed that it was a Malignant Melanoma, I had a second surgery soon afterwards. The surgeries went well. My scar has healed well and the Hospital are seeing me for follow ups regularly. My scar is a reminder to me to check for new and changing moles and I am very careful when I go out into the sunshine and use high factor sunscreens. I think this service is very good and would recommend it to others.

"I have used the Boots scanning service a couple of times now and am so grateful."

Mrs. F
from Manchester - July 2021

I have used the Boots scanning service a couple of times now and am so grateful. The first time I used it was for a lesion on my back. The report came back a day later and suggested I see my GP to request a referral to see a Dermatologist. I was able to go to Christie Cancer Hospital in Manchester where they not only removed the Squamous Cell skin cancer from my back, but also diagnosed a Melanoma on my face at the same time. I was seen by an amazing Plastic surgeon who has removed the facial lesion and left me with a scar that is hardly visible. I am now having regular follow ups. Thanks to the mole scanning service I have had a positive outcome. My advice to anyone worried about a mole or a lesion is “Don’t be afraid to speak up if you think something doesn’t seem right”.

"I am very impressed with the service I received."

Mr. M
from Kent - May 2021

I had noticed a lesion on my cheek, it had been there for about a year before I came across the Boots scanning service that was advertised in store. I made an appointment and returned a few days later for my scan. The staff were excellent, and the process was easy. A few days later I received my report from ScreenCancer in the post which suggested I see my GP with a view to having a Dermatologist look at the lesion. I was then sent to see a Dermatologist who decided to remove the lesion. The histology came back as a type of skin cancer called a Basal Cell Carcinoma. I have now been discharged back to the care of my GP. I am very impressed with the service I received. I found it a very positive experience.

"I would recommend the service to anyone!"

Mr. M
May 2021

My wife heard of the service running in Boots and she said I should pop along and get my mole checked out. I booked an appointment easily and went along to my local Boots branch. The Boots staff were amazing, and the service was so quick. They sent of my images and information for a consultant Dermatologist to analyse. The screening results were with me within 3-4 days. The HCA’s at ScreenCancer called me up and explained to me the results and that I needed to see a GP as soon as possible. I went to my GP with my report, and they sent me to a specialist. The specialist cut out the lesion and sent it away. The results came back as a Malignant Melanoma. If I had never gone to Boots, I would not know that, and this mole would still be on me. Since my consultation, the specialist has removed the whole lesion and they also cut off two more they were concerned about. Currently I am all clear, but I do go back for 6 monthly check-ups. I would recommend the service to anyone! The ease of it all really helped me on my way to getting a clear result.

"It has been a difficult experience for me, but I am so happy to have found the scanning service."

Mrs F
from Dublin - April 2021

I had a mole on my face that I had been ignoring for a while. I felt I should do something about it but kept putting It off. I was online looking at articles about moles, when I came across the mole scanning service at Boots. There was a branch near me that offered the service, so I made an appointment. The staff at Boots were great and very professional, and a few days later I received a call from ScreenCancer explaining my report and urging me to see my GP with a view to seeing a Specialist. I had recently had a baby who was only two months old at the time. It has been a bit of a whirlwind experience for me. Covid has complicated things further, but my GP and the Hospital in Dublin took me seriously from the start. I was seen by the Plastic Surgeons and had my surgery and was diagnosed with a Malignant Melanoma. Further surgeries followed and I am relieved to say that I have been given good news recently. I will be having regular follow up appointments. Everything was taken care of within the matter of a few weeks. I was very worried and felt like I had lost my confidence, but I have been looked after so well. It has been a difficult experience for me, but I am so happy to have found the scanning service.

"I felt that it was too small and insignificant to bother my doctor with."

Mr H
from London - January 2021

I had noticed a small lesion on my arm which wasn’t going away. It had been there for around a year. I felt that it was too small and insignificant to bother my doctor with, (I thought it was just a pimple). While googling images of skin cancers I came across the ScreenCancer website, and felt that this was a sensible way to have the lesion looked at without bothering my GP. I found the Boots staff to be knowledgeable and professional, they did a good job and things were thoroughly explained to me. ScreenCancer contacted me to discuss my report and explained that I needed to see my GP with a view to having my lesion investigated further by a Dermatologist. Everyone I have spoken to at ScreenCancer have been pleasant and helpful. I did visit my GP and was referred to a Dermatologist, who decided that to be on the safe side they would excise the whole lesion. The process did take some time because the pandemic happened and so things were delayed. Eventually I had my Surgery and received my report a few weeks later. I feel that this service is very good. I call it a staging post especially for men like me who feel like they cannot bother their GP with something which seems so small. Once the report came, I had to see my GP to get the process started but having the ScreenCancer report in my hand made that easier. The follow up has been great and overall, I am very happy with the service I received.

"I am really pleased that I began the journey and followed my instincts to get the mole checked out."

Customer
from Nottingham - April 2020

I had noticed a mole about 18months ago, I wasn’t sure if it was new or if it was something that had been there previously and had recently changed as it was quite small. I asked my GP about the mole, but he had dismissed it as of no significance and said just to keep an eye on it. I didn’t notice any changes but while I was off work for a while, I thought about it again and felt I just wanted to have a second opinion, just to put my mind at rest. I knew about the Boots mole scanning service, so made my appointment, had my scan and was contacted a couple of days later by someone from ScreenCancer who calmly and clearly explained the report to me. They made the suggestion that I ask my GP for an urgent Dermatology referral. The Dermatologist I saw were very kind and explained everything to me and the mole was removed. I went back to the Dermatologist after my holiday for my results which showed that the lesion was a Melanoma in situ. I have since had further surgery, I am waiting to hear from the Hospital about the results and I have a follow up appointment in place. I am really pleased that I began the journey and followed my instincts to get the mole checked out.

"I am very glad I used the service and have been recommending it to others."

Mr K
from Birmingham - April 2020

I had a mole on my thigh that had been there for a while. My girlfriend noticed that it had got a bit darker and become more noticeable. My Sister had previously used the Boots scanning service, so I made an appointment and had a Mole Scan. A couple of days later I had a call from somebody at ScreenCancer who went through the report with me. They suggested that I get an appointment with a Dermatologist with a view to having the lesion removed and sent for Histology especially as there had been recent changes noted. The Lesion was removed and reported on as a Melanoma stage 1B. I had a second surgery and will be followed up regularly for a while to come. I am very glad I used the service and have been recommending it to others.

"The results showed that the lesions were all Melanomas."

Mrs L
from Epsom - April 2020

A new mole appeared on my arm, it was quite small but after about three months. I decided I would use the Boots mole scanning service local to me and have the mole scanned. I arranged an appointment the next time I visited the store. On the day of the appointment, I was seen on time and while I was there it was suggested that it might be a good idea to also scan another mole on my arm that looked similar. I agreed to this and the images were sent off. The next day a Nurse from ScreenCancer phoned me with the results of my scan and suggested that I make an urgent appointment with my GP in order to receive a quick referral to a Dermatologist for review, as both of the lesions scanned were suspicious of Melanoma. I was able to see a Dermatologist quickly and had both the lesions removed as well as a third on my leg which was found during my examination. The results showed that the lesions were all Melanomas. I have had further surgery and have also had to have lymph nodes removed. I will be having three monthly follow ups for a while to come. The service I have received from everyone throughout this journey has been very good. I have been encouraging other people I know to use the service. Thank you very much.

"I visited my surgery with my report and was able to get an urgent appointment. I believe that having the report to show them, made that happen quickly and that is thanks to you."

Mrs M.
from High Wycombe - April 2020

There was a mole on my back which I was unaware of so do not know for sure how long it had been there, but my daughter who was visiting from Australia noticed it and drew my attention to it. I knew it would take a long time to get an appointment to see my GP as the surgery is extremely busy. I was not aware that there were private mole scanning companies that I could access until my daughter did some research and suggested I book with the Boots Mole Scanning service. The appointment for the scan was in Ascot, it was easy to access and the lady who carried out my scan did so perfectly, and I felt confident and at ease. Two days later a lady at ScreenCancer contacted me with the results of my scan and advised that I contact my GP urgently to request a Dermatology referral as my mole was suspicious of an early Melanoma. I visited my surgery with my report and was able to get an urgent appointment. I believe that having the report to show them made that happen quickly and that is thanks to you. I saw a Dermatologist in Amersham and the mole was removed and analysed as a Melanoma. It was completely removed, and I have follow up appointments in place. Thank you very much. I have told all my family about your service, none of them were aware of it before now.

"I think that this service is wonderful, and I can’t fault it. Thank you so much."

I had noticed a new mole on my leg but hadn’t taken too much notice of it as I had been very busy moving to a new house. I wasn’t sure how long it had been there but felt when I looked at it that is was darker than and different form my other moles. My friend had previously used the Mole Scanning service through Boots and encouraged me to make an appointment. I was able to access the service through Boots in Oakham with no difficulty and the staff there were very helpful and efficient. While I was there, I was able to have another two lesions scanned as I had been concerned about them too after having earlier problems with my skin. I had a phone call from a member of staff at ScreenCancer the next day, who explained my results to me and advised me what I needed to do next. The report was then sent to me in the post and I received it a few days later. I was able to see a Dermatologist who gave me some treatment for two of the lesions and removed the one on my leg that I had been most concerned about. The results came back showing that this was a Malignant Melanoma in Situ. I have since had further surgery and am happy to report that I do not need any further follow up.

"I had a positive outcome and am glad I accessed the ScreenCancer service as I feel it gave me peace of mind and allowed me a quick access to a Dermatology service and some treatment."

I had a lesion on my face that had been there for most of my life. Other people always noticed it and pointed it out. I had asked my GP about it and was told it was nothing of concern and then a hospital surgeon suggested that I should have it checked out. I googled Mole scanning services and came across the Boots service and was able to make an appointment within a few days. The Boots staff were very helpful and explained everything to me. A few days later I had a call from ScreenCancer explaining my report and suggesting that I make an appointment with my GP with a view to receiving a Dermatology referral. I feel that my GP took me more seriously when he looked at the report and I was able to see a Dermatologist and have the lesion biopsied. Thankfully the results came back as a showing no signs of skin cancer. I had a positive outcome and am glad I accessed the ScreenCancer service as I feel it gave me peace of mind and allowed me a quick access to a Dermatology service and some treatment. I have been recommending the service to family and friends.

"I feel this service has saved my life and I can’t thank you enough."

Lady from Southport

I noticed a lesion on my foot and I just wanted it looked at to see what it was, because I noticed it one day when I was taking off my shoes. I looked on the internet for a mole scan service. I was seen by boots and 2 days later I had the results from ScreenCancer. I took them to my GP who referred me to a Dermatologist urgently. 4 days later I was seen by specialist, but I had to be referred to a Plastic Surgeon. I had the lesion removed within the week. The results showed a Lentigo Maligna. I can’t believe that from seeing someone in Boots to having the lesion removed has all happened within a month. I feel this service has saved my life and I can’t thank you enough. I am so happy and have been telling my friends and family all about this amazing service. I have been pointing people in the right direction to use this service and will continue to do so. Everyone has been so nice and explained everything I need to do in concise detail. Thank you ScreenCancer & Boots!

"I had been having trouble with my skin for around 10 years."

Daniel
from Sheffield

I had been having trouble with my skin for around 10 years. Frequent trips to see the GP and a variety of creams had never helped and the condition was worsening. I saw an advertisement for Boots Skin Scanning Service online and was able to access the service easily and make an appointment that was suitable to me without any difficulty. The Pharmacist who carried out the scan was very professional and thorough and did not make me feel at all rushed. The process was explained clearly and a few days later I had a call from a Health Care Advisor at ScreenCancer who discussed the report with me and gave me the option of having a prescription faxed to the Pharmacy where I had my scan. I was able to collect this later at a time that was convenient for me. I am happy to report that the medication is working, and my condition has cleared. The report I received from ScreenCancer was clear and comprehensive and I am very impressed with the service and happy to share my experience if it will help other people.

"I am impressed and grateful for the service I received and would recommend it to others if I was asked about it."

Mrs C.
from Essex

I had been struggling with an itchy red skin condition for a few months before my daughter found an advertisement online for the Boots Skin Scanning service. The wait for an appointment wasn’t too long considering it was flu season and Boots were very busy. I decided to use the service as I had been told there was an 18 week wait to see a Dermatologist and I needed help quickly as I was about to go on holiday. I had the scan and two days later I received a call from a very helpful lady from ScreenCancer who read through and clearly explained the report to me. I am impressed and grateful for the service I received and would recommend it to others if I was asked about it. The report was concise and detailed, and I appreciated the advice given and have managed to follow the recommendations provided. I am happy to say that my condition has improved and although I know it is something that is likely to return from time to time, I feel confident about how to manage it. I am very happy to report that when I did finally get to see a Specialist that she agreed with all the advice detailed in the report. The only thing I would say is that I did have to travel quite a distance for the service. It would be great if the service was in all Boots stores!

"I Feel fantastic now!"

I notice the lesion on my left forearm had changed slightly. I saw an advertisement for Boots mole scan. I decided to book an appointment and had scan done. I received my report with results very promptly. I then made arrangement to see a specialist. I had an excision of lesion removed in June and in my follow up my results were as thought MM insitu. I then had to have a wider excision taken in November and now I'm waiting for a follow up. I am very grateful to the service not only was it speedy and efficient it was right with thinking it was highly suspicious. It just shows the smallest of things can cause the greatest of problems. I have a big scar on my arm but feel it is a small price to pay. I have also had other family members use the service and receive the same high level of care. I will advocate and always recommend this service. I am so grateful.

My skin had been quite bad for around two years. I noticed an advertisement for the skin scanning service on Social Media. There was no long wait for an appointment and a really nice Pharmacist took a very detailed and thorough history and carried out the scan just a day later at Boots in Market Street, Manchester. Two days later I received a call from the Screen Cancer office, my report was explained clearly and then sent to me. The option of a prescription was offered to me and I found the process easy and clear and was able to get the prescription I needed from the pharmacy where I had my scan. I am happy to say that my skin condition has started to improve in just a month. I feel that the skin scanning service is good and really appreciate the follow up I received.

I visited GP on several occasions due to an itchy area’s behind and inside my ears, it was keeping me awake at night. It had been going on for 18 months. GP had prescribed cream but didn’t work I saw an Advertisement online for your service, so I contacted Boots as I thought id give it a try. I had a phone call very quickly after my scan and we discussed my report. A treatment plan had been written out in the report from the Dermatologist. I took the Consultants advise and got the creams. Having the report sent to me was great as I could read through the instructions and with using the cream it improved with in a 5 days. Since having the report, I have a better understanding of the condition as I was looking for a cure. I am now able to maintain the condition with cream and not only has it gone, I can refer to it myself on how to treat it, should the condition return. It was amazing and I would definitely recommend the service.

"In my opinion this is a wonderful service. I found it quick and painless and I make no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family."

I had noticed a lesion on my arm for around a year but noticed over about seven months that it was becoming much darker. I was using the boots website for sorting my regular prescriptions and noticed a small advertisement for the mole scanning service. I had never heard of it before but made an appointment and had my scan very quickly. That was on a Friday and on the Monday following that I was called by a nurse from ScreenCancer who explained the report and asked that I make an urgent appointment to see my GP with a view to receiving a referral to Dermatology. I received my report via Email and was able to take this with me when I visited my GP who also had never heard of the service but took details so that he could mention it to others. I was sent to Dermatology and had a biopsy with the results coming back showing that my lesion was a Melanoma. I have since had two further surgeries and now have a 5” scar running along my arm and am receiving regular follow up appointments in Dermatology. The Dermatologist had not heard of this service either and took a copy of my report as he was impressed with the service. In my opinion this is a wonderful service. I found it quick and painless and I make no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family. The only negative thing I could think to mention is that it does not seem to be well advertised in this area. I could have missed that tiny advert while I was on the Boots website it was just a fluke that I came across it.

"I feel that this service helps people and gives people like me peace of mind. Having the report in my hand gave me the courage to go to my GP and ask for a referral. "

Mrs D

I Decided to use the mole scanning service as I was aware that there was a long wait to see a consultant on the NHS. I had my scan in London and received my results a few days later. A nurse from ScreenCancer rang to explain my results and I was advised to seek a specialist opinion. I initially went to a private consultation who suggested I opted for Mohs surgery. This was going to be very expensive, so I took my Screen Cancer report to see my GP and asked that he refer me on a two-week skin cancer wait. I was able to see a Dermatologist and the lesion on my nose was removed and analyzed as a BCC. I am very happy with the service I received with ScreenCancer. I feel that this service helps people and gives people like me peace of mind. Having the report in my hand gave me the courage to go to my GP and ask for a referral.

"I am definitely more aware now and encourage others to take extra care in the sun!"

A Lady from Cheshire

I had a mole on my cheek that had been there all my life. I noticed slowly over a year or so that this mark was getting darker. At first, I took no notice as I presumed it was just an age-related mark that happened to be growing in the same area as the mole. It was my hairdresser that suggested that I have the mole checked as she said it was very dark and she didn’t like the look of it. I had the scan in Boots and received the results quite quickly. I managed to see a private Dermatologist three days later who said he was removing the lesion as he felt it was of concern. The results came back as a Malignant Melanoma and I have since had a second surgery, which showed that the Melanoma had been completely removed. My Dermatologist has done a fantastic job and people do not even notice the scar. In my youth I did what everyone else was doing, trying to get as brown as possible not realizing the dangers I was putting myself in. I am definitely more aware now and encourage others to take extra care in the sun.

"I can’t recommend ScreenCancer Service highly enough!"

I had noticed a new lesion on my thigh about a year before. I kept noticing it and didn’t really feel comfortable about it. I searched online for a Mole scanning service and found one that offered whole body scans but felt that there was nothing I was concerned about other than this particular mole. I carried on searching and came across the Boots service which I was able to access quickly. I had my scan the day after I came back from my holiday and received the results just a few days later. A nurse from Screen Cancer rang to explain my results and suggested I make an appointment with my GP. The visit to my GP was not successful as he told me he thought it was nothing to worry about. I still wasn’t reassured so decided to access a private Dermatology service. The Dermatologist also told me that she thought it was nothing significant but agreed to take a biopsy if I would be reassured. I agreed, a biopsy was taken and the results came back as a Severely Dysplastic Nevus. A second surgery was carried out. The lesion has been completely removed and my mind is now at rest over it. I can’t recommend ScreenCancer Service highly enough.

I had noticed a mole on my ankle for around two years. I felt uneasy about it. A doctor looked at it about a year later and told me it was nothing to worry about. I still didn’t feel particularly comfortable with the advice so searched online and found the ScreenCancer service through Boots. I accessed the service which was quick and efficient and had the scan with the Pharmacy team at Boots. I received my report the next day relayed by a member of the ScreenCancer team. The report was explained, and I was advised to visit a specialist. I was able to access a Dermatologist through Bupa and had my initial excision which returned with a diagnosis of a stage 1 Melanoma. I had further surgery and a repair by Graft and am being followed up every three months at present. I am glad I went with my instincts and had my mole scanned and would recommend the service to others in the same situation of feeling unsure about something and not confident in the previous advice given.

"I’m really glad I accessed this great service!"

I had noticed a mole on my right calf seemed to have enlarged and just looked different than it had previously looked. I saw an advertisement for the Mole Scanning Service in Boots and went along for a scan. That was on a Friday and on the next working day (Monday) I had a call from a Nurse at Screen Cancer UK, who carefully explained the results of the scan and advised that I go along to see my GP within the next 48 hours and ask for a Specialist review. I took the report along to my GP on the same day. He looked at it and at my calf and sent a Dermatology referral for me. I was seen within a few weeks. The Dermatologist thought that it was probably nothing but agreed to do an excision. The results came back as a Melanoma in situ. I had a wider excision, the results came back clear and I need no further appointments or treatment. I’m really glad I accessed this great service.

"A fantastic service. Thank you!"

Noticed a mole appear on my back 2 years ago - steadily growing. Went to my local Boots store for a consultation. Received a call from Screencancer nurse to explain the results and the urgency of a referral. I saw a Dermatologist within 2 weeks and the mole was removed. I was diagnosed with a stage 1 Melanoma. I had to have my lymph nodes removed but I have since been given the all clear. A fantastic service. Thank you.

"I can’t thank the service enough, it has been truly a life saver !"

Around a year and half ago a friend of mine spotted a mole on my neck and suggested get it looked at. I said oh it’s fine it always been there and thought nothing more of it. Then in June 2018 I was out to lunch with friends and one of them with a medical back ground said I really needed to get the mole checked out. I wasn’t worried, but I knew that Boots were running a new mole scanning service, so I went along that day and got a scan. I couldn’t be bothered to see my GP as I truly thought the mole was nothing, I thought the results of the scan would come back as normal and that would be the end of it. A few days later I got a telephone from ScreenCancer. The lady gave me the results over the phone which indicated that the mole was suspicious, she suggested that I see my GP as soon as possible. I knew she meant it by the tone in her voice. I made an appointment that day, took the report with me and was referred direct to a surgeon. I had the mole removed with 2 weeks, although the surgeon thought it was fine. Shortly after removal I got the results back only to find out that the mole was in fact stage one melanoma. The histology indicated that it had been completely removed, but I still had to have a wider excision just to be sure. I am now under the care of a dermatologist, I was given details of a website to look at that gave me more information and how to check my other moles. I have since been back to Boots and had four more moles checked. They all came back fine, but two are being removed in the next few weeks just to be sure. I can’t thank the service enough, it has been truly a life saver. If it wasn’t for the scanning service, I know I would not have bothered to go and see my GP. It’s a brilliant service, thank you to everyone.

I had noticed a new freckle appear during my pregnancy in 2017, I didn’t really take much notice of it but did notice in January 2018 that it had enlarged. There was a lot of personal problems going on for me, so I just put it to the back of my mind at the time and thought no more of it until I went walking in the fine weather with my Mum in June 2018. I was wearing ¾ length trousers and my Mum noticed the mole and told me I had to get it checked out. The next day I visited Boots in Castlebar and had a scan. The boots staff were helpful, the scan was completed and the very next day I had a call from a nurse in the office at ScreenCancer who explained in a very informative and helpful manner what I should do next. I went to see the GP that afternoon, I was sent to the hospital to a Dermatologist the next day, who removed the mole there and then. Within three weeks I had the result of my surgery which confirmed the mole was a malignant melanoma stage 2. I have since had a wider excision and a sentinel node biopsy and am being followed up closely by the Hospital. The Doctors have told me that they have caught it early which has reassured me.

"I thought about going to the doctor but felt I could be wasting his time. "

Mr L - age 47

I notice a mark on my left calf around a year ago. I thought it was a little unusual so kept an eye on it. I then noticed it had started to change, it was getting bigger and the colour was changing. I thought about going to the doctor but felt I could be wasting his time. I had noted the Boots were running a screening service, so while shopping one day I thought I would get it checked. The store were very good. They explained everything really and I was extremely happy with the service. A couple of days after the scan I received a telephone with the results. The lady on the phone explained that the scan showed there was a possibily that the mark on my leg could be a melanoma and it was suggested that I see my GP urgently. She explained everything to me really well and I felt I confident I was in safe hands. I went to my GP that day, who agreed with the report. I was referred to the hospital and was told I would be seen within two weeks. I was seen the next day and they too agreed the mark looked like a melanoma. It was removed within two days, confirmation came back that I had a ‘Stage one’ malignant melanoma. I had to have the scar removed which happened within a few weeks. It was just to be sure the melanoma had all been completely removed. From having the scan to the final removal, it only took around four weeks. I will have regular checks at the hospital for a year. Once I am discharged, I will keep a regular check on all my moles and go back to have a scan if I am worried about any of them. I am so pleased I used the mole screening service and now look at the sun in a very different way. I have recently come back from holiday in the Far East and have never come back from a holiday so pale.

"I have since happily recommended the mole scanning service to members of my family and to other friends. "

I noticed a lesion on my neck about a year ago. I kept looking at it and checking it for signs of it enlarging or changing. After a while I visited my GP who looked at it and told me not to worry about it as it was just a wart. I wasn’t convinced and eventually went with my instinct and visited Boots mole screening service to have the lesion scanned. I had seen a leaflet in the store when I had previously visited and had taken it home with me. I received my results quickly and took them with me back to the GP who still thought it was nothing to worry about but agreed to do a biopsy. The results came back confirming that the lesion was a Basal Cell Carcinoma. My GP was very surprised but agreed that the service had got it right and sent me to a specialist for the removal of the remainder of the lesion. I have since happily recommended the mole scanning service to members of my family and to other friends.

"I am so impressed with ScreenCancer and Boots, they have a brilliant service. Its all about saving lives, more people need to know it!"

‘While on a collage to trip to New York around four years ago, someone pointed out a mole on my back and suggested I get it checked. At the time I was very aware of my skin, as I have a lot of moles and freckles. I check my skin on a regular basis, I know that your skin goes through changes as you get older and thought this one was just evolving as part of this process. I know about the ABCDE rule of checking your moles and last year I noticed this mole had in fact started to change. I kept a close watch, then noticed it had started to get bigger, change in colour and shape. While out shopping I saw Boots had got a mole screening service, picked up a leaflet and a week later I made an appointment to get my mole scanned. I thought using the screening service would be much quicker that going to my GP. The Boots staff member in store was so lovely, she explained the whole processes, she was knowledgeable, understanding and very kind. She made me feel at easy and I felt confident that she would do a good job. The scan itself did not take long to do, once complete the staff member explained a little about sun awareness and gave me some information on how to look after my skin. The next day I received a telephone call from ScreenCancer. I was told that the scan had shown my mole as being suspicious and with the history of change, it was recommended that I get the mole checked more closely as soon as possible. I was quite upset and worried about it. Once I received my report I took it to my GP, the next day I got a phone call asking me to go and see my GP, who then sent me to tele dermatology the following day. They photographed my mole and other parts of my body. It was quite an odd experience but in a good way. The member staff who took the photos had been through something similar and explained the process of excision, if it came to it. I felt so reassured. A few weeks later I saw a dermatologist, who within seconds of seeing the mole, said it needed to come out, just to be sure. This was done only a few days later and the results came back as being superficial malignant melanoma. I did have to have more tissue removed, just to make sure it was all gone. I have now been discharged from the hospital, which is great news. This whole experience has changed my life, I wear my scar with pride. It has helped me change my perspective on life and made me realise what’s important. We need to talk about skin cancer and spread the word. The more you talk about it, the more you realise how many people have been effect. The taxi driver that took me to the hospital for my first operation, had a lot of different skin cancers removed and helped reassure me that I would be ok. The more I research I do the more shocked I am about how common skin cancer is, but how uneducated we are about it. The cases of skin cancer is rising and it is set to get worse over the coming years. I am so passionate about educating people on the dangers of the sun and using sun beds. I want to do all I can to help people understand the risks and what to do about staying safe. I check my skin all the time and I know that if I see anything changing to get it check right away. I am so impressed with ScreenCancer and Boots, they have a brilliant service. Its all about saving lives, more people need to know it. The girls at ScreenCancer do a wonderful job in education as well. I can’t praise them enough.’

"My daughter had noticed a mark on the underside of my right arm and asked when I was going to get it looked at. Several months later she asked me again."

Mrs B from Kent
Aged 62 yrs

My daughter had noticed a mark on the underside of my right arm and asked when I was going to get it looked at. Several months later she asked me again. I have to admit I am a sun worshiper. Whilst out shopping I walked past Boots and noticed the mole scanning service, so went in and had it scanned along with another mole. Being a nurse, I felt I should have known better and got it looked at sooner. The next day I was impressed to receive a call advising me to go to my GP. This I did, and I was referred within 2 weeks to see a dermatologist. I was going travelling to India for voluntary work but had the lesion was removed on my return in March by a nurse. The results showed it to be a melanoma in situ grade 0. Further excision was advised and this was done in April by a dermatologist. I have a follow up appointment in September. I was very pleased with the service and would recommend people using it. I also received a call from my GP asking if all was ok and I understood the outcome. Recently whilst going through some photos I noticed that the mark was there, but I had never noticed myself. These photos were about 12yrs old, so it seems it had been there for several years.

"I showed the pharmacy assistant my lesion on my head, who advised that I could use the service. "

Ms W - Age 45
from Republic of Ireland.

I had been aware of a lesion on my temple for around two years. I saw two or three GP’s at my local surgery who all told me that is was of no concern. The lesion hadn’t gone away and while passing Boots in Wexford I noticed a poster in the window advertising the mole screening service and went in to make enquiries. I showed the pharmacy assistant my lesion on my head, who advised that I could use the service. The pharmacy assistant was very helpful and kind and I felt like I was making the right decision. I returned a few days later for my appointment. I received my results a few days after the scan and was able to access a Dermatology service for the removal of the lesion which was analysed as a skin cancer. It has been completely removed and I have been advised to keep a check on the area for any signs of recurrence. Luckily, I work in a hospital and am able to go back to the Dermatologist with any concerns in the future. I am very impressed with the service; the pharmacy assistant was particularly helpful. I am happy to share my story with others who may be contemplating using the service and would definitely recommend the service to others.

"I was very impressed with the service. In fact, so satisfied that I have used the services again recently. I know what to look for now and was worried about another lesion."

Mr F from London SW

I first notice that I had a lesion on my back when I woke up to see blood on the sheets. I was worried about it and went to see my GP early last year. I was given some cream, but it didn’t seem to do much. I saw an article in my local free paper. It was advertising a mole scanning service by Boots Chemist. I went along to my local Boots and was able to get an appointment very quickly. The store was very good, they explained the service and were very professional the whole time. I was told the scan would be sent to a consultant and I would get my report soon. In only three days I got a phone call with the results. They were explained to me very well and I was told the scan showed I had a possible Basel Cell Carcinoma. It was explained that this was a form of skin cancer and I should go back to my GP with the report. I did see my GP again and this time I was referred to the hospital. The consultant at the hospital thought it would be a good idea to remove the lesion, as he thought it was a Basel Cell Carcinoma. I had it removed, the results came back confirming what everyone had thought. The lesion was completely removed and I have been discharge from the hospital. The whole experience only to 6 weeks. I was very impressed with the service. In fact, so satisfied that I have used the services again recently. I know what to look for now and was worried about another lesion. I have the results from the scan and am now waiting for another appointment with the hospital. I would recommend the service to everyone.

"It worried me how many other people have been wrongly advised. If I hadn't had the scan performed i would have taken the GP’s advice that it was nothing to worry about."

Mrs P - aged 65

Before I retired in 2013 I was a Nurse Practitioner in a GP Practice, which made me aware of looking for changes in skin lesions. Last year I noticed a lesion on the front of my right lower leg. It fulfilled the guidelines for melanoma in that it was it was ASSYMETRICAL, the BORDERS were irregular, it was more than one COLOUR and it was larger than the end of a pencil in DIAMETER. Whilst I was visiting my son in Australia he recommended that i go to one of their Mole Scan clinics but I decided to wait until I came back home as i felt that it would be easier to manage. I noticed an advert for Mole Scanning at Boots the chemist so I made an appointment. I was told that I would receive a letter within 2 weeks but the very next day I was contacted by telephone and advised to see my GP to arrange a biopsy. I made an appointment and went to see the GP with my scan results. He tried to assure me that it was nothing to worry about as he had “seen thousands”! I was not satisfied and told him that I wanted a second opinion. He reluctantly referred me to a dermatologist. 3 weeks later I received a letter to say that my referral had not been accepted. I made another appointment to see the GP and went back. Once again he tried to convince me that it was nothing to worry about but I explained that as it fulfilled all the guidelines for melanoma, with the exception of enlarging, (which I didn’t want to wait for) I would like to be referred. The second time he referred me I received an appointment within 2 weeks. I went to a local pop-up dermatology clinic and the doctor there agreed that it would be sensible to take a biopsy but before that could be arranged I would need to see a consultant dermatologist. I waited again and within another 2 week period I saw the dermatologist at the hospital. After discussion she advised me that she was 95% certain that it was nothing to worry about. I explained that 5% doubt was enough for me to be concerned so she agreed to me having a biopsy. I attended for a biopsy within another 2 week period and saw the Specialist Nurse Practitioner for the biopsy. Because of the shape and the site of the lesion the Nurse referred to another dermatologist for advice on the best way to remove it. The doctor who briefly cast his eye over the lesion said “It looks like seborrheic keratosis, shave it”. The nurse did shave it and sent the specimen off for cytology. I was recalled to see the dermatologist who advised me that it had indeed proved to be a melanoma-in-situ, which meant that there was no spread as it had been treated early, but I would need to be referred to the plastic surgeons to have a wider and deeper excision but once that was done I wouldn't require any further treatment. I had the wider/deeper excision at the end of December 2017 and this week ,mid-March, I was discharged and given the all clear. It worried me how many other people have been wrongly advised. If I hadn't had the scan performed i would have taken the GP’s advice that it was nothing to worry about.

"I noticed a mark on my arm and didn’t take much notice of it, but my sister insisted that I got it checked out. I kept saying that getting an appointment with my GP was so hard, but my sister kept on at me and I did realise that my mark looked very much like the one my sister had."

Sarah - aged 58
from South Wales

My sister had a very innocuous looking mark on her arm, it looked more like a scar, but kept bleeding. After ignoring it for some time, she eventually got it checked out. It turned out to be a skin cancer and had to be removed, she to have quite a lot of tissue removed, with more than one surgery, as the skin cancer was quick deep. My father also had skin cancer. I noticed a mark on my arm and didn’t take much notice of it, but my sister insisted that I got it checked out. I kept saying that getting an appointment with my GP was so hard, but my sister kept on at me and I did realise that my mark looked very much like the one my sister had. I notice an advert for a mole scanning at my local Boots store, so thought I would get the mark scanned. The store very nice and kind, the whole processes was done very quickly. The following day I received a phone call with the results of my scan, indicating that a Basel Cell Carcinoma could not be exclude. I was really worried, but the lady on the phone was kind and explained things really well for me and told me what to do next. It was suggested that I see my GP once I had the report, which I did. I was then referred to dermatologist, who looked at the mark and told me that although it presented as a Basel Cell Carcinoma, it was fine and nothing to worry. This was such a relief for me, I was going through a very rough time in my life. To get the all clear after seeing what my sister went through was such a weight of my shoulders. I am so pleased I went to Boots. I can’t praise the service enough. It was worth every penny and use the service again. Boots and the staff at ScreenCancer were Brilliant. More should be done to raise awareness of skin cancer and the service I used. Thank you all so much!

"I want to do all I can to help raise awareness, it is so important to check your skin and this service has helped me, I will always be grateful for that."

Marian - age 53

In December 2015 I went to my local pharmacy, they had started a new mole scanning service, so I thought I would try it. I had a few moles that I wanted checked and thought it was quick and easy way of having them looked at, without having to go to my GP. The results came back as normal, which was great. In December 2016, I decided to have one of the moles looked at again, that was on my arm. I had not noticed any changes, but thought I would get it re-checked any way. This also came back as normal. On 2nd January 2018, I thought as I had the mole checked in the two precious years, I would have it re-check. I did think at the time why am I doing this, as again I had not notice any changes. I decided it felt like a routine and something that I just did. The following day I received a phone call from ScreenCancer regarding my results. It turned at that the mole had in fact changed from the previous scans, it had got darker and more uneven. I was told that it now looked suspicious, but also that it could just be the normal progression of the mole, but in view of the clear changes, it should be looked at more closely. The staff from ScreenCancer were very kind and explained things to me really well. I was told to make an appointment with my GP as soon as I could, which I did. My GP took it very seriously and within two weeks I was seen by a dermatologist. They confirmed that it looked suspicious and it was removed the same day. I now have confirmation that the mole was a malignant melanoma. It was caught really early and was only on the surface of the skin. I was told by the consultant that they are 100% sure it is all removed, but the normal process would be to do a wider excision, just to be sure. From having the scan, the results, the removal of the mole, the results and the all clear, the whole process has taken six weeks. I cannot thank Boots and ScreenCancer enough, the staff and the consultant that looked at the scan, wonderful. If it had not been for this service I would not have known that the mole had changed. I can’t recommend the service enough. I want to do all I can to help raise awareness, it is so important to check your skin and this service has helped me, I will always be grateful for that.’

"Having the scan done at Boots was great, not only because it was quick, easy and convenient, but I also got Boots points too"

Carla - aged 26
from Belfast

My dad had an appointment to see a dermatologist, but the waiting time was really long. He had seen that Boots in Belfast had started a mole scanning services, so he tried it out, as it was going to be quicker and convenient. He was really pleased with the service and mentioned it to me. I had a few moles that I wanted check, so thought I would give it a go back in 2016. The reports came back really quick, via a text link and all the moles were normal, which was great. Then in July 2017, I went back and had two different moles scanned. This time I got a phone call regarding my results, the lady one the phone told me that one of the moles was normal, but the other on my back looked to be suspicious and that I would need to visit my GP and get a referral to see a dermatologist. I the lady from ScreenCancer was very kind and talked me through my next steps. Once I received my report I took it to my GP and was then referred. The dermatologist thought they should remove my mole, just to be safe. The results came back as being boarder line for malignant melanoma. The consultant said he had never had a report back saying that before, so the mole was and is being treated as if it a melanoma. Nobody wanted to take the chance that it was anything other than a melanoma. So, I had to have the scar and more skin removed and am being followed by the hospital for the next few years. I am so glad it was found so early, as now I am expecting my first baby in July and glad that it’s all been dealt with. Having the scan done at Boots was great, not only because it was quick, easy and convenient, but I also got Boots points too. I am so glad that my dad spotted the service, they store were really great. ScreenCancer were lovely too, they were so kind to me. Getting my moles check, meant that I got the treatment I needed at an early stage. I would recommend the service to anyone.

"I noticed that it has started to get raised, but at no time did I think I should see my GP, as I hate going. In August I received an e-mail from Boots telling me about a new mole scanning service they had started. So, I thought this would be a good time to get my mole checked. "

Lorrain - aged 63

I’d had a mole on my right thigh for many years, it had not caused a problem and I had not noticed any changes, until the end of July beginning of August last year. I noticed that it has started to get raised, but at no time did I think I should see my GP, as I hate going. In August I received an e-mail from Boots telling me about a new mole scanning service they had started. So, I thought this would be a good time to get my mole checked. A couple of days after the scan I received a phone call from a very lovely lady from ScreenCancer. She explained that the report had come back about my mole and was suggesting that it could be suspicious of a malignant melanoma. She explained that I needed to she my GP as soon as possible. I did was I was asked to do and took a copy of the report that she sent. My GP then sent me to see a dermatologist, who thought it did look like a melanoma. The mole was removed and sent off for histology. The report came back as a confirmed melanoma, it was quite deep, more tissue had to be removed and they did a scan on the lymph node close to where the mole had been. The scan came back as clear, but I was given the option to have the node removed as a precaution, which I chose to do. I am so pleased I got the e-mail from Boots about the mole scanning. If I had not then I would still be walking around with my mole, non-the wiser that I had a melanoma. I feel sure that I would not have gone to my GP at all about it. I am so impressed with the service and the kindness of the staff at ScreenCancer. I know now that I am being looked after and have the treatment I need from the hospital. Raising awareness of skin cancer is so important, people don’t realise that it is a life-threatening cancer.

"I do believe that the scan helped me when I saw my GP, as I feel I was taken more seriously. I am so glad I had the scan done and grateful to the staff that helped me. Best thing I’ve done"

I have a few moles on my body and had one checked last year, which thankfully was fine. Then last year I notice that a mole on my tummy was starting to look a little different. I was keeping an eye on it just in case. Then I received an e-mail from Boots telling me about their new mole scanning service, so I thought this would be a perfect time to get the mole checked. A couple of days after I had the scan, I received a phone from ScreenCancer regarding the results of my scan. The lady was knowledgeable and very kind, she explained the results and what I had to do next. I was told that the mole did look suspicious and was told to see my GP as soon as I could get an appointment. I went to see my GP before I got the report, but my GP was a little dismissive, this changed once he saw the report the following day. My GP then felt I should be referred to the hospital and I was seen by a consultant very quickly. I showed the consultant the report and he looked at the mole. He confirmed that it did look suspicious and thought I should have it removed. When I got the results back, the mole was confirmed to be a stage 2 malignant melanoma. When they took the mole out, they had not got all the tissue, so I had to have more skin taken away. I am now being seen by the hospital every 3 months for the next few years and they are looking after me. It is so important that you check your skin. I do believe that the scan helped me when I saw my GP, as I feel I was taken more seriously. I am so glad I had the scan done and grateful to the staff that helped me. Best thing I’ve done.

"I had been to my doctor twice about it who did not diagnose it."

I went to the local Boots store as I was worried about a mole on my leg. I had been to my doctor twice about it who did not diagnose it. It was brilliant to have received such a quick referral from this service and I had the mole immediately removed at my local hospital. I was diagnosed with a Malignant Melanoma grade 1 which was all removed. I now have regular follow ups and reviews. I am very thankful you offer such a service.

"The one on my back, which had been there for years and not taken much notice of it, came back as being suspicious."

My mother noticed a sign in our local pharmacies window, advertising a mole scanning service. My mother knew I had a mole on my neck I was a little concerned about and suggested that I went along. I had the mole scanned and while I was there I had a scan on mole on my back. It was not one that I was worried about, but thought as I was there I would get it done. It turned out that the mole on my neck was normal and nothing to worry about. The one on my back, which had been there for years and not taken much notice of it, came back as being suspicious. It was suggested that I visit my GP with the report as soon as possible. My GP referred me to dermatologist, who removed the mole. When I got the results, I was really shocked as it turned out to be a malignant melanoma ‘stage 2’. It has all been removed, but I have to go back and have more skin taken from where the mole was and a biopsy of my lymph nodes. I was not expecting any of this, I am just hoping that everything will be alright and I am so glad I had the scan done. I truly believe if it was not for the scan, there is no way I would have gone to the doctors about it. I would have just left it and then what would have happened. I think that people should take more care and look after their skin. I will be from now on. I am just grateful to the scanning service.

"I am very sure that without the report, the mole would have been dismissed, I would have been none the wiser, but still walking around with a skin cancer, that could have got worse."

I had a funny looking mole on the back of neck, which I notice the colour starting to change. I saw that Boots were offering a mole scanning service, so I thought I would try it. The staff in the store were very nice and helpful. I had the scan done and only a few days later I got a telephone call to say that the mole looked a little suspicious. The lady on the phone was really kind, explained things well and I was told to make an appointment with my GP and take the report of the scan, once I received it in the post. I did just that, then was referred to a dermatologist. I took the report with me and showed the dermatologist. The dermatologist said the mole was nothing and needn’t worry. I was not happy and insisted the mole was looked at properly, because of what the report said. After much discussion, the dermatologist reluctantly gave in and check the mole properly. The mole was removed, the results showed a form of skin cancer, a Basel Cell Carcinoma. I am so glad I stood my ground and had the report. I am very sure that without the report, the mole would have been dismissed, I would have been none the wiser, but still walking around with a skin cancer, that could have got worse. I am so pleased I had the scan done. I was also impressed that ScreenCancer bothered to follow me up. I was not expecting that and feel that whole service is very good. I told friends about the service and in fact one of them has used it. She was also really pleased with the service. Thank you!

"It was explained to me that they would scan any moles that I had concerns about. I showed the member of staff a mole I had on my arm, which when I go out in the sun crusts up and scabs over. I really think this is a good service and I know that I have been treated early because of it."

I was in Boots Belfast for an eye test and notice that they were offering a new mole scanning service. I am coved in moles and thought it would be a good idea to have them checked. It was explained to me that they would scan any moles that I had concerns about. I showed the member of staff a mole I had on my arm, which when I go out in the sun crusts up and scabs over. But to be honest, I didn’t think much of it. The staff at Boots were lovely and clearly knew what they were doing. Only a few days after the scan, I received a phone from ScreenCancer with my results. They said the mole had shown up and being suspicious. They suggested I see my GP as soon as possible, once I received a copy of my results in the post. They were very clear with their instruction and very kind. I got an appointment with my GP a few days later, she looked at the mole and read the report. I was referred to a dermatologist and was seen within a couple of weeks. I saw the dermatologist, who thought the mole should be removed, as he didn’t like the look of it. The only time a got scared about the whole was when the dermatologist booked me in to have the mole removed right away, in fact two days later. That’s when I thought, this could be something bad. A short while after the mole was removed, it was confirmed that the mole was in fact a malignant melanoma. They said it was superficial stage one. Although it has been completely removed, they still wanted to take the scar out and at the same time, they removed another mole. This one turned out to be fine. I am so glad that I has the scan done and was treated so well. I do still have to see the dermatologist and my wife looks at my skin weekly and goes over it a fine-tooth combe. While she was looking at my skin, she spotted something on my face, which I showed the dermatologist. He thinks it is a Basel Cell Carcinoma and is being removed in a few weeks’ time. Since the mole scan I am so aware of my moles. I can only put the skin cancer down to be in East Africa as a child and getting very badly burnt. I really think this is a good service and I know that I have been treated early because of it

"It could have been so much worse. I will always be thankful for the scan and the kindness and support I received"

I notice a dark mole on my elbow and thought I should get it looked at. I saw that Boots were offering as scanning service, it went through my mind a few times to have a scan, but I kept putting it off. Then when I went into the store and picked up a leaflet, I saw a picture of a dark mole that looked like mine, so I got it scanned there and then. The staff were lovely in the store and very kind. The next day I received a telephone call from ScreenCancer, with my results. They were so kind and very helpful. I was told that I needed to have the mole looked at urgently by a doctor, because the scan had shown my mole was a possible melanoma. I did get very upset and pass the phone to my husband. He spoke with ScreenCancer, who told him I needed to be seen by my GP urgently. They sent me my report and my GP referred to the hospital urgently. The consultant confirmed it looked like a melanoma and it was removed it right away. The results came back as being 1.6 on the Breslow chart, which I told was quite deep, but it had been completely removed. I had to have the scar cut out again, just to make sure they had got it all and I am now waiting for an appointment to have my lymph nodes check to make sure it has not spread. I am ever so grateful to the staff at Boots and to ScreenCancer. I am so glad I had the scan done, I wish I’d had it done sooner. But having it done when I did, meant I have been treated and am being looked after by the hospital. It could have been so much worse. I will always be thankful for the scan and the kindness and support I received

"I have used this service twice now, the first time the mole was fine, but the second time of using the service, the lesion was not fine."

I am very lucky to live in a small community, with a wonderful village pharmacy. They are a key part of the community. I saw a leaflet regarding a mole scanning service they were offering. I am very fair skinned, so know that I need to check my skin. I have used this service twice now, the first time the mole was fine, but the second time of using the service, the lesion was not fine. Only a few days after the scan I received a phone call from ScreenCancer informing me that I see my GP and have the lesion reviewed, as it was felt that the lesion could possibly be a form of skin cancer. I did see my GP and it was confirmed that I had indeed got a form of skin cancer, a BCC. This was treated by my GP with cream, which took a few weeks, but it has all healed now. I feel this service is invaluable and far better than going to my GP first hand. To me I feel it gives a better understanding and view of a mole. The scan is reviewed by a consultant. It’s a quick, easy and very simple processes. I know that it is a payable service, but feel it is very worth using and will continue to do so, when I feel the need.

"I just hope that more people know of this great service. It saved my life!"

I became aware of a mole on my back after I returned from working abroad. I couldn’t see it myself so when I was in Boots, I saw they were offering the mole scanning service. The staff were great and the whole process was quick and simple. I was contacted by ScreenCancer within 4 days of my appointment and was informed the mole was suspicious and to take my report along to my GP for referral to see a specialist. My GP dismissed the mole and didn’t think it was anything of concern, but referred on the weight of the report from ScreenCancer. Within 2 days I saw a dermatologist who felt it could be a possible Malignant Melanoma and removed it there and then. When I received the results to confirm that it was a melanoma I was so relieved to have found it early enough. I was told it was 0.6mm in depth which means it was caught early enough. I have to go back to see the dermatologist for checkups but I am so grateful for the service I received. I have been back to the Boots store where I had the appointment to inform the staff of my diagnosis. I just hope that more people know of this great service. It saved my life!

"A brilliant service and well worth the money!"

Mrs. B

I was really impressed with the service. I went to see my GP who referred me to see a dermatologist. My GP was really impressed with the report and the pictures. He didn’t know about the service in the local pharmacies but thought the price was very reasonable and such a good service I saw the dermatologist within 2 weeks. A biopsy was taken and I had treatment. I have been having regular appointments with the dermatologist. Although the area on my leg wasn’t a deep skin cancer, it was on the surface and would have turned into more of a skin cancer. I tell all my friends about the mole scanning service as it gives peace of mind. I will be going back to the Pharmacy to let them know of my progress and to thank them for their care and support. A brilliant service and well worth the money!

"I was grateful to my friend for telling me about the service. I would definitely recommend it!"

Janet - age 70

A friend of mine had a mole scan, done through a Boots store. I mentioned I had a mark on my leg that my GP had seen, but had said it was nothing. My Friend said I should have it checked at Boots, just to be sure, as it looked similar to the one she’d had, which was removed. There wasn’t a Boots near my home town, but I happened to be going to Manchester, so was able to get a scan while I was there. I was really pleased with the service. The staff member was very kind and helpful. I received the results from the scan within a few days. It was suggested that I go to my GP to have the mark on my leg checked. Once my GP saw the report and looked at the mark again, I was referred to see a dermatologist. The dermatologist confirmed what the report had said. The lesion, which had now ulcerated was removed. It was confirmed as a Basel Cell Carcinoma and has now been completely removed. I was so pleased I used the service. It meant I could get the treatment I needed and got peace of mind. I was grateful to my friend for telling me about the service. I would definitely recommend it!

"From scan to treatment it took less than two weeks!"

Chris

I was very impressed with the service. I felt the staff were very competent, explained everything really well, they were professional and empathic. Which put me at ease right away. The scan was quick, it only took a few minutes after I completed a small questionnaire and I was told the results would be with me within two weeks. Two days later I received a call from ScreenCancer regarding the results. They explained the report from the consultant and gave me very clear instructions on what to do next. They answered my questions and I felt confident of what I had to do next. The one on the left cheek was a benign seborrheic keratosis and the one my right cheek was sun damage. It was suggested that I make an appointment with my GP once I got a copy of the report. I received a colour copy of the report the following day and I made an appointment with my GP.I showed the report to my GP, who was very impressed. He had not heard about the service before and loved the report with the colour images. He read the report and followed the recommendations suggested. I am now being treated with a topical ointment to get rid of the sun damage. The GP kept the report as he was so impressed that he wanted to show his staff members and tell them about the service. From my prospective, I could not be happier. From scan to treatment it took less than two weeks. I would whole heartedly recommend the service. It was professional, reassuring and put my mind at rest

"I am so pleased that Boots offer this service, I feel it takes the burden off the NHS and unnecessary appointment with the GP. I feel we need more services just like this."

Nicola Acornley (54)

I was on holiday with my sister and she noticed a dry patch on my thigh. She’d had a BCC removed a while ago and told me I should get it looked at. I thought it was just a small patch of eczema, I hadn’t thought much of it and didn’t want to bother my GP. Once I got back from my holiday, I noticed a sign in the Boots store offering a mole scanning service. I thought now is a good time and had the lesion scanned. The staff were really helpful and I felt they were very knowledgeable. I received a phone call from ScreenCancer within six days of having the scan, telling me of the results and instructions on what to do next. They were very kind, helpful and reassuring. Once I received the report in the post, I made an appointment with my GP, who then referred me to a specialist. The lesion was removed and came back as superficial BCC. The lesion has all been fully removed. I am so pleased that Boots offer this service, I feel it takes the burden off the NHS and unnecessary appointments with the GP. I feel we need more services just like this. I sadly lost a family member to Malignant Melanoma, so this mole scanning service is even more important to me and I am so grateful to the service, thank you.

"The service was more than worth it which gave me peace of mind!"

Mrs C

I accessed the service at Boots Brent Cross, after receiving an e-mail via the Boots Advantage card. I had a lesion that I was worried about, so had it scanned. I was very pleased with the service I received at Boots and felt they knew what they were doing and explained things really well. I was even more please that I got a phone call from ScreenCancer within 3 days of having the scan. I felt things were explained well and felt confident making an appointment with my GP, knowing I had the back up from the report. I felt the GP would not have taken me seriously without it. I used my private health insurance to see a dermatologist, who felt that removal of the lesion was appropriate. The histology was normal, but I was pleased to have the lesion gone and very happy with outcome. I felt the service was more than worth it which gave me peace of mind. I would recommend the service to people and would use the service again. I was impressed that ScreenCancer then followed up with me 6 months later.

"A great service which is so important in order to raise awareness of checking skin for signs of change and an easy way of accessing a really good service!"

I took my husband to our local pharmacy Alphega Pharmacy in Hertfordshire as I was concerned about a lesion on his chest which was causing symptoms. We were told we would receive a report within 2 weeks but were telephoned by a member of ScreenCancer within 3 days. The nurse explained the results and what we needed to do and then explained we would be contacted again by ScreenCancer to follow up on my husband’s treatment journey. The analysis report suggested that this should be seen by a doctor/specialist as it was suggestive of a possible basal cell carcinoma (BCC). I took my husband to the GP with the report and the lesion was frozen with liquid nitrogen. The lesion blistered and eventually crusted and fell off. I have had a malignant melanoma in the past and my daughter has had numerous moles removed, so I am very aware of the importance of checking our skin for signs of change. ScreenCancer contacted me a few times following the consultation and have been very supported. I am currently under the care of a dermatologist who I see every 6 months for a mole check. I took my husband along to my dermatologist to check that everything had healed well and he was very pleased. I gave him a copy of the report. I am so impressed with the aftercare and support we have received from ScreenCancer. The nurse was very understanding and gave plenty of time to talk to me on the phone.

"It’s a bit like a friend, you invite them in to your home, they stay for 12-18 months and then they start to irritate you, so you know it’s time to sort it out."

Richard Arnold

I have had a lesion on my lower back for some time. At first it didn’t bother me, but after a while I started to scratch it. Then it would bleed, heal and then I would start the whole itch scratch cycle over again, so I knew I needed to have it looked at. It’s a bit like a friend, you invite them in to your home, they stay for 12-18 months and then they start to irritate you, so you know it’s time to sort it out. Like most men, I kept putting it off, but while on holiday, it was nagging in the back of my mind. When I got back from holiday, I took my wife into town and saw a big screen in my local pharmacy offering the mole scanning service. So I thought right now is the time to sort the lesion out. If in doubt, get it sorted. The pharmacy was really good. I am really pleased with the service so far and grateful for the phone call from ScreenCancer and the discussion I had with them about my report. Once I have received my report and done what I need to do, I will happily share the rest of my story and the outcome.

"I would recommend this service to anyone with concerns"

Mrs F

I went to my local Boots for some skin care products when I saw the sign for mole scanning. I had a lesion on my leg which had appeared and was growing, so I thought I would get this checked by the mole scanning service. The staff were brilliant and I received the report in 2 days. ScreenCancer explained what I needed to do, and as I was in Spain for the next few months they sent the report straight to Spain. I went to see a dermatologist with the report who stated he thought the report was “spot on”. He removed the lesion and the results came back as an early skin cancer. He checked the rest of my body I am so grateful to both Boots and ScreenCancer for the service I received. I would recommend this service to anyone with concerns.

"I am pleased I had the scan done and would recommend the service to anyone"

Glen, age 55

I noticed a mole of my right shoulder with a dark area and had become itchy. I also felt it may have increased in size and was more raised. I saw that Boots Brent Cross were offering a mole scanning service and made an enquiry. They confirmed they could scan the mole and I was booked in for the following day. I was very concerned about the mole and wanted it checked as quickly as possible. The store was very good, it was quick, only taking ten to fifteen minutes to complete the scan. I was told I would get the results within two weeks, but a few days later I had a phone with the results. I was informed that it would be a good idea to have the lesion checked and the report would be sent out to me. As I was so concerned I made an appointment with a private dermatologist. The mole was checked and it was thought I should have the lesion removed. Once I got the results the dermatologist removed the area again as it was felt that mole had the potential to change to something more serious, these results came back clear with nothing more to be done. I am pleased I had the scan done and would recommend the service to anyone.

"It’s all healed up now and I am now left with a small pink area."

Janice Pailaqueo (63)

I noticed a lesion on my right chest a while ago, which I was sure was getting bigger, it also looked to be ulcerating. I have had a skin cancer removed from my left chest and this new one was starting to look the same as the one I’d had removed. I saw that Boots were offering a mole scanning service and thought right "just get it checked". I had a few other moles scanned and man in the Boots store was lovely and did a great job. Once I had the report back, I went my GP as instructed and had the lesions checked. He thought one of the lesions was a skin cancer and gave me a cream (Efudix) to treat it with. The cream made the area red and angry, which it was meant to do. It’s all healed up now and I am now left with a small pink area. I was really glad that I had the scan done, as it made me go to my GP, especially because of the previous skin cancer. I thought the whole services was very good.

"The day ScreenCancer and Boots saved my life!"

Miguel
Portugal

I’m a 44 years old man born in Portugal, and since I remember myself as a person, the summer holidays were always the best moments of the year. The days on the beach, the warm sun of southern Europe, never represented for me, at that time, any sign of danger. When the first news relating sun exposure to skin cancer started to appear, we began to pay more attention to protection, using always the highest factor, and in particular when I started to take my children to the beach. By the end of 2009 I came to be aware of the ScreenCancer Mole Navigator solution to skin checking and I thought this could be a way to expand skin cancer screening to other parts of the country where it’s hard to find a dermatologist. At that time it never crossed my mind to look at any particular mole on myself. I thought that the fact of being used to sun exposure was a good proclaim to be out of that risk group for skin cancer. In my capacity of Healthcare entrepreneur I’ve made a visit to Bergen at the beginning of May, where I went for a business trip to understand the logistics of the ScreenCancer Mole Navigator having in mind to bring this screening activity to Portugal. When I visited one of the Boots pharmacies to look at the process, I was invited to test myself and I was asked to indicate any mole I could have. At the moment I wasn’t able to immediately locate one, but, deep in my memory, I recalled that a couple of summers ago I had a mole that was scratched and so I elect that one for the test. The procedure was amazingly simple. After 5 minutes I was out, with the feeling that nothing important would be found and that I had no reason at all to think more about it. It was a mole with less than 5 mm in diameter and since it was in my lower left torso I didn’t often look at it. Two weeks later I received a call from Norway suggesting that I should investigate the mole since it showed on the ScreenCancer Mole Navigator that there was a possibility that it might be an early melanoma. When I received that information my heart froze and I immediately took on the decision to remove it as soon as possible. I consulted an internist that decided, with the approval of the surgeon and the dermatologist, to perform the excision with an extensive safety margin. The days waiting for the pathology results were a mist of anxiety and relief but I wasn’t prepared at all for the result that arrived on the morning of the 1st day of June, the terrifying diagnosis of Malignant Melanoma. After the initial shock, the next sensation I felt was of happiness, considering myself the luckiest guy and blessing my trip to Bergen and my experience with ScreenCancer Mole Navigator at Boots. I have no doubt that if I hadn’t volunteered for that test it could have been too late when I would have some reason to look again at the mole. The good thing is to know that, when there’s an early diagnosis of a Malignant Melanoma followed by complete removal, the prognosis of total remission and cure is very high. That’s why I can say that the 5th of May, 2011 was the day that ScreenCancer and Boots saved my life!
